I know. I keep waiting for Hollywood to get tired of the orange & teal look and move on to something else equally annoying (the constant in & out zooming of 24, anyone?)
I don’t do Color tweaks normally. I quite like the way the camera does it, but yesterday I had some waterside shots which were just flat because of the overcast and stormy clouds. I did the edit and thought of this topic. So in premiere for the first time I spent some time going through the presets. I know trying to do it manually is best, as I read the endless posts from dedicated tweaked, but I could see tons of presets, and toggled through them. My assumption was these would improve the picture? How wrong I was! I cannot even imagine why they are there? Do people actually mangle their images with them. Of course I’m not shooting RAW but are there no presets for people who just hit record?
In the end, it was exposure up a notch contrast up a bit, saturation up a bit, shadow diem highlights down and that made a decent image from the flat one.
