" Tea " short film - blown up - 35mm big screen

Re: " Tea " short film

Re: " Tea " short film

Very well done. I would have liked it even if it ended once the tea had been made. Editing and score are pro. The look awesome! What shutter for the cu on the cup?

Re: " Tea " short film

What is it with you Brits and your tea :P

Good stuff though. I'm also wondering what shutter you shot that on...

Re: " Tea " short film

Great job Carrington! I had no idea where this was going and had just started to think "Well, he made making Tea interesting..." and then

BAM!

Scarface, a body and i loved it. Great comps and super pro editing job. The score was a perfect choice; disturbing, exciting and frantic. Reminded me somewhat of the original PLANET OF THE APES score.

Hudson Scale

4 of 5 Stars! :D

Re: " Tea " short film

Cheers mr hudson - thx for the compliments.

planet of the apes ay'.. . :-X i'll hold out.

This has been a fun project - as always after you finish one - the addiction gets stronger to make more - will enter " tea " into more short film fest's - but - in the meantime - watch this space for the next instalment ;)

If there are any other film fest's for recomendation - let us know.
The quick flick fest was a good experience - to see your own little short projected up on big screen with an audience - very cool indeed 8)

Re: " Tea " short film

How did the DVX treat you on the big screen? (BTW The mention of PLanet of the Apes was in reference to the original from the 60's and NOT that crap Burton did)

Re: " Tea " short film

Re: " Tea " short film

Yes - I was a bit worried about the res etc on the big screen but - I have to say - it wasn't bad at all.I noticed alot of the other entries were very home video interlaced in look & this helped the quality of the dvx to stand out amongst the rest.

Re: " Tea " short film

Re: " Tea " short film

Just like to mention the shutter speed changed alot due to lighting setups but mostly 1/250 .

Am writng ideas for next months screening - so stay tuned for " coffee "
working title at the mo ;)

Re: " Tea " short film

awsome! and congrats.. the short is very good, and certainly deserves its public debut.

Re: " Tea " short film

Re: " Tea " short film

interesting short. I like the fast paced man on fire type of editing with quick dof changes and flashes. one side note tho you may want to consider putting less initial emphasis on the hanging guy. I was spooked at first but after watching him hang ther for like a minute I was able to focus more on the details and not really think much of it other than how goofy he looked. good color change but stick more with fear of unknown instead of gruesomness...of course i could be wrong and your whole approach was something more comedic. Great job overall though

Re: " Tea " short film

Hey, Carrington,

What's this month's theme? I'm trying to get something done for the next São Paulo's Quickflcks... Can't get in touch with them, though...

-EDIT-

Just saw it. Looks awesome! The storyline is, well, very quickflick-ish, but nice nonetheless. The idea is great and you certainly know your fast-paced-electronic-music-video editing. Good work!

Re: " Tea " short film

Carrinton, you just blew me away, I loved it. I will keep in touch and tell you about a festival which I think you could enter here, the only thing is that you will surely push my entry down a notch, but hey . . . . that dont matter :) Kudos Man!

Re: " Tea " short film

Re: " Tea " short film

..yes. it is the standard shutter speed setting when cycling through shutter speeds in 24p. shutter off is 1/50

Re: " Tea " short film

Hey taubkin
The next month's theme is ' journey ' - just send them an email.
I've been mad busy so will not have the time to enter a flick by next week. Although - I've created a special little something for the main title sequence at the next screening - also done one in portuguese for you guy's in São Paulo ;)

Re: " Tea " short film Big Screen 35mm

Hi There,

I just wanted to share that ' tea ' got shown yesterday on the big screen at the Curzon Cinema Soho London as part of the  "50 Quid Film Fest " - it was the real deal - a proper bonafide cinema :P
The sound & texture of seeing your own little short up there was truly a great experience.
' tea ' made the shortlist of the 10 little films that were shown last night - unfortunately it didn't win but,  the winner was truly deserving of the 1st place - some very stiff competition indeed :o

All I have to say is I was blown away by the blown up image up there - I worried that it would looked pixelated to hell but - I have to say - it shocked me how much it looked like a clean 16mm feature & it stood out from the crowd - which was one attribute - Im proud of.

Alot of baffled filmakers in disbelief that it was mini dv - all I have to say is - im stoked that the dvx can look like that after the blow up - maybe its a combination of good post & transfer but whatever it was - I know now it can look fantastic up on the big screen  for sure !!

here is the link to the 50 quid site :

By the way - the transfer was from mini dv

Sorry Carrington, you should give up now.

Sorry Carrington, you should give up now.

Carrington ; Sorry , but I can't come out with all that "awesome" , "blew me away" and "wow"  subservient crap  like the other posters here.  Let's face it; most of them are Americans and just don't know what's good and what's not - clearly.
Anyone with any talent can see just by watching a few seconds of your work, that you haven't got a clue what your doing or how to do it. - Let me give you some advice : give up now buddy and go try something less taxing. Don't feel embarassed about your complete lack of talent in this area: we can't all be brillient at making tea. - Your main problem is using BROWN SUGAR. This is only for coffee Carrington - never in tea. Also YOU DIDN'T WARM THE CUP ! - ARGGH! WHAT AN IDIOT !!! - I feel there should be some kind of law against people ABUSING teabags like this - I'm sure Twinings will be taking legal action against you. AND ! - pouring the water in from such a height ! all those bubbles ! - This cools the water to the detriment of the brew. - No , sorry mate , you've no talent whatsoever when it comes to making tea. None at all. Zero. Nada. 3+2-5 .

Yours very disappointedly, Ruff. ( own home, dvx, and Brown Betty Teapot )

P.S. - I thought your film was top notch! Well done mate!  Perhaps you should stick to using your DVX and leave brewing tea to the experts.

;D
