Tape suggestions for A1 XH?

Well, those canon tapes sure are nice... but pricey and somewhat harder to find. I always used Panny MQ's on the DVX and still have unopened stock.
I got the A1 and decided to go with Sony's new HDV MQ tapes. They are also very expensive $15 each is a good price, but are easier to find than the Canons.
I've read about people having NO problems with regular miniDV and I've read horror stories about miniDV tape as well.
For me, $15 an hour for media is still CHEAP. I like having the piece of mind. My typical shoot involves a lot of travel, gear, and almost always only ONE chance to get the shot... Surfing, Motorsports, Ice Climbing, etc... dropouts suck with HDV is the one thing we can all agree on. I'd really like to be running GOOD tape AND a firestore, but it's not in the budget yet.
