GH4 Taking the GH4 to the next level…………….10bit 422 with A Ninja Assassin

Well, I couldn't afford a 4K 10-bit recorder, but I came up with $400 for a Ninja Star - 10-bit HD. The reality is I output HD on everything I do, so if I have to choose between 4K and 10-bit color... well, the nice thing is I can make that choice per shoot, but until I can get a newer 10-bit recorder, my own rule will be V-LOG L = HD file. The plus size is I get to use the full sensor and encounter even less rolling shutter. Potential downside is some moire and no ability to pan and crop. I get it Tuesday and will post results with 10-bit V-LOG.

I’ve been trying to decide which recorder to buy for my GH4; it’s not an easy decision to make as they all have their good and bad points. At the moment I think the best choice for me is the PIX E5 by Sound Devices/Video Devices these guys have a sterling reputation and known for customer service.

If anyone on the form has one and would care to share their thoughts on using the PIX E5 to record 10bit 422 with a GH4 it would be appreciated.

PIX-E5 is the best - I tested it recently! Built in LUT support, compact size, robust, clever Speed Drive media design, and full 4096x2160x24.00p 10 bit 4:2:2 support out of camera (with camera start/stop functionality too).

Plus, as you say, they have an awesome reputation that I trust.
