C300: Takes frickin' forever to boot

Guess I bought that 128 GB card for nothing.

Also formatting to ExFat does not improve the speed with 128GB or less. Actually it took Initializing it twice to get it to read the card. That scares the crap out of me so I won't be using ExFAT.

By any chance are you using a Komputerbay 128 gb card?

I have two C300's, one just got the dual-pixel upgrade. Both start up in ~4.3 seconds w/Sandisk 32 GB cards (formatted but empty), cameras set to dual record. Both able to shoot w/in ~8 seconds.

I can't say that I have ever noticed if it takes longer to boot if there is more data on the card. If that's not the issue you could reset the camera to factory default. See how long it takes to boot. Then systematically go through customizing settings to however you normally configure the camera and see if one of them is causing a longer boot time.

Other factors: Are you formatting your cards in the camera? What brand and speed of card are you using? Is there non-Canon C300 data on the card that could be causing an issue?

The 8 second boot time would not surprise me for 32gb as it seems to be directly proportional to the size of the card. The camera was factory defaulted when they installed the dual-pixel upgrade and I always initialize the media when inserting it into the camera so there is no extraneous data. Cards are SanDisk Extreme 64gb (60 MB/s) and Transcend 128 GB (120 MB/s). I don't know what else I can do. Is it possible older C300s exhibit more of a problem here? I don't know what other factor there could be.
