T2i viewfinder sensor?

Does the t2i have an auto viewfinder sensor that switches when you put your eye up to it (ala gh1)?

Thanks

To the extent of my knowledge: No. The camera doesn't have a liveview finder so it would be really weird for it to switch back and forth all the time like that, especially since you have to take your eye off the viewfinder to review photos. I know I have that feature turned off on my GH1....too annoying to have the viewfinder turn on when trying to get a shot with the camera hanging from your neck..stomach blocks the VF. I love being able to review photos right in the view finder on the GH1 though...go a bit nuts without that.

The T2i doesn't have an electronic view finder so it can't which off when taking photos. However, when shooting video the mirror moves up and blocks the viewfinder, meaning you have to use the LCD.

Ok thanks. I just remember some video showing how it was hard to put a z-finder on it because there was a sensor that switched the screen off. Not sure what that was.

Yes, the LCD on the rear of the camera does switch off but only when taking still photos when using the viewfinder when your face is squished up against the camera. When using live view for stills or when shooting video, the LCD remains on. So attaching a z-finder loupe will not be a problem.

I concur with Curnsie.
Alex, This may be the video you are talking about.

The z-finder frame covers the sensor. But I didn't really care for that feature anyway, so I do not mind that the frame covers up the sensor, rendering it useless.
