t2i Settings for low light/slo-mo footage

Hello All,

I have to re-shoot a flying squirrel jumping from person to person indoors and under limited lighting. The animals are nocturnal so they aren't cooperative when it's too bright. I was able to use a couple 150W video lights at a distance of 7 ft but had to turn the ISO up to 3200 which made it really grainy. I was shooting at 60fps and 1/60th shutter speed and the motion came out really blurry when I slowed it down.

What should I set the ISO and shutter speed to to ensure I get crisp detail for slo-mo?

What kind of lens are you using?

If you are using that slow kit lens that comes with the camera, you're not going to have much luck in low light.

Also, 1/60th shutter is good for 24-30fps, however you should double it if shooting slo mo at 60fps, otherwise you will have exaggerated motion blur.

for shooting slow mo you need a lot of light. The last time I did slow mo I shoot 60 fps with shutter speed of up to 1/1000. However, made sure that your iso is under 1600 and preferably under 1000. No need of getting good slow mo and it's all grainy.
