So i have had my t2i since i pre-ordered it and loved it. 5300 clicks on the shutter. I got offered $650 for the camera body only. Thats the same price as this camera goes for new these days.

Now i use this camera for work and i run magic lantern on it and i will need to replace it if i decide to sell.

My question: If i could sell it for $650 what should i replace it with? I might like to upgrade to the t3i or 60d or even 7d, all of those are in budget. the catch is that i need the features that magic lantern offers like the iso settings, false color, focus peaking and things like that. I would be ok with going to a 4/3 camera like the gh1 if i could find one that could be hacked but a cannot go the other way to a full frame because too many of my lenses would be useless.

Let me know what you guys think

Thanks

The t2i with the magic lantern is probably pretty hard to beat. I think the only upgrade might be the GH2 for it's resolution, remarkable virtual lack of moire and aliasing, ETC mode and articulating screen....or maybe a 60d (and add the magic lantern to that) The 7d as far as I know hasn't been hacked and does not have the audio control of the 60d/5d/t2i (with hack). I usually don't say this but since you already have a camera maybe conitinue shooting with it and see what happens with the 5dmark3. Your camera is among the top tier of video DLSRs available right now since it has all those nice add ons due to the hack. Oooops sorry I missed the part about lenses. GH2 then.

Well its really one important lens that i would lose (Tamron 18-270, my normal travel lens that i use for most everything). your right, the 7d isn't hackable at this point but the 60d hack is pretty minimal as well. How well does the GH2 compare the a hacked GH1?

Going to a 4/3 i would still lose this lens but i would regain my old canon FD lenses that i can easily mount again so its a bit of a toss up.

There are differing opinions on the GH2 vs GH13. I feel that the GH2 is all around a better choice because of it's improved low light, native 24P with a better implementation of the codec not just bit rate, ETC mode, better audio, clean HDMI monitoring, etc. etc. The footage I've seen from the GH2 is pretty incredible but then again all these cams are capable of a lot in the right hands. I've got the Tamron 18-270 for my Nikon D90 and yes it's great to have all that coverage in one lens- the 14-140 for the GH2 is a great lens as well for general shooting /video it's a must have IMO. With my GH1 I was able to seamlessly take photos and basic videos without a care in the world - that lens is Great other than the slow aperture.

I got offered $650 for the camera body only.

Take the money. I only got $600 for my 550D with the kit lens and 2 batteries. These cameras loose value fast so unless you plan to keep one model forever, you have to think about the best time to sell. I got the offer for my 550D and took it because it's not always easy to find a buyer.
60D is a good option for an upgrade. The build quality is far better and the controls are in the right places.
I may sell that as soon as the next 5D arrives.

yeah no matter what im selling it. I just dont know if i want to buy another t2i and run magic lantern again or look at upgrading is all.

I'd buy another T2i and run ML until something with same amount of features per dollar rolls around (which hasn't happened yet).
In fact, I got my T2i at B&H refurbed direct from Canon for $649, with the kit lens. You could sell him the body, get a "new" one, sell the kit lens and make a profit!

Or... maybe I wouldn't. I dunno, I guess I'd feel bad selling to someone knowing they can buy a refurb from Canon with the kit lens for less. But I don't know all the details of the situation, so I guess go for it!
