Thanks man, I definitely want to do more of that and in a more stabilized environment, I was stuck going handheld all weekend but still got some cool stuff.
And people wonder why we love all those "old" glass. You couldn't get that look in post for $10,000. One of my older Nikon's does the same thing. I am creating a shopping list of uncoated or single coated glass just to have fun like this.
Sometimes you really need the glass to be clean, sharp, and problem free. But other times, this is EXACTLY what you're going for.
I've read that those aren't authentic Helios lenses but rather a Japanese made lens with the Helios name. Same goes for any 135's or zooms with the Helios name. To my knowlege, the only ones that were made that are authentic Helios is the 50mm, 58mm, and 85mm varieties.
That's a great suggestion. I have the Mir 24 and it nicely complements the Helios 44 except in the area of lens flare. It's multicoated so it has excellent flare control but the sharpness and color are very much a piece with the one you have now. Another option is the Mir 47 which is a 20mm 2.5. No personal experience with it but from the pics I've seen made with it, it's worth looking into.
hey Chris i was considering the mir 47 for my wider prime. It seems they dont have front filter threads though... i think i read it has rear filter threads. I have no experience with that...anybody care to shed light on that for me? can I use filters on these lenses?
