T2i - Confused about Overheating

I've used my T2i only sparingly for video in the four months I've owned it. Two minutes here, five minutes there. The other day I had a friend ask me to shoot some of her rehearsals for a play she's doing => and the camera overheated after about 10 minutes. The first time I try to record some continuous video and boom - overheat.

I've read that this is common and I've read that other people can record for up to an hour.

How do people shoot weddings with these things if they can overheat that fast?

Thanks.

ive never had an overheading problem with any of mine; either Kingston 16GB class 10 or Sandisk Extreme III class 10 8GB cards. One uses a grip, 2 others i do not use a grip.

My camera never overheated for the first 6 months, but lately it overheats a lot. You can't push it to hard with long recordings. You can feel the heat building up in the handle. I'm not surprised at all that it overheats.
Maybe you can get an external battery pack to get some of the heat out of the camera body. Also keep a spare set of batteries standing by in a cool place, and set the auto power down to 30 seconds. DSLRs produce some amazing images, but they aren't designed to be on full time. If you have long projects to shoot all the time you may want to invest in a video camera.
