T2I Cinestyle vs Flaat11.

Ive been using cinestyle forever and i keep reading its a "noisy" picture style compared to others. I downloaded flaat11 which is supposed to have more stops than cinestyle and have less noise. Here is my extreme low light test, Is there something wrong with my camera because flaat looks absolutely awful and full of noise everywhere yet cinestyle holds up better.

Both screen grabs are from 160 iso, F2.8 canon 17-55 ef-s 2.8 lens. Both with sharpness 0 , saturation -2, contrast -4, tone 0.
Cinestyle on the 1st, flaat11 2nd

I can see noise in both. I would expect some noise to be less apparent in cinestyle while it is low contrast. No one to my knowledge has claimed flaat11 to be low noise. it is more about the aesthetics of the curve and the portrait style base.

I have recently started using Marvel Cine.

There is a comparsion on Bloom's web site between a few profiles. (Not by him.)

So far it looks pretty decent, but I have only tested it a bit.

Best,
Michael

Marvel started out awful, but the last two versions seem to have found a much better place. I stayed away from it because of past versions. Do you have any work that you could show its strengths with? THanks

Flaat has more noise than CineStyle in the "raw" images. It is after grading that the CineStyle images will quickly start to show issues in the midtones (noise, posterization, macroblocking, etc, as a result of devoting such a small portion of the codec's color space to that area of the image). The shadows will probably still be cleaner in CineStyle than in Flaat, but I'd rather have nice midtones and skin tones than clean shadows.
