T2i Battery Grip - LP-E8 or Rechargable AA

I need to get a battery grip soon. I was wondering if anyone had done any comparisons between using LP-E8 vs Rechargable AA batteries for power?

Also, if anyone knows what rechargable AA are best for use in a Canon DSLR, I would like to hear their opinion why. I'm assuming either NiZn or LSD NiMH?

I'll probably be getting a cheap grip off amazon and my LP-E8 preference is Opteka.

When I was using a Pentax K-x I found Sanyo Eneloop's to be the best rechargeable AA batteries available. I'm not sure how they'd compare to the LP-E8 though.
 
I've got a phottix battery grip for my 550D, which I use with opteka batteries; it works great

I wouldn't even consider using rechargeable AA: I've always had bad experiences with non-lithium battery technologies, they just don't seem reliable enough: they always seem to have lost their charge when I reach for them, plus a bad charger will kill the batteries (even if they are eneloop, which I have also read are some of the best around)
 
Eneloops are awesome! Whatever you do, make sure you get LSD (low self discharge) batteries. Rechargeable LSD (low self-discharge) AA batteries are a much better value than Canon batteries. Eneloop AA batteries are rated at 2000mAh, whereas the Canon LP-E8 is rated at 1120mAh. Unless I'm missing something here, 6 AA batteries will deliver a lot more juice than 2 Canon batteries. The AA batteries are much cheaper than the LP-E8. You can charge AA batteries using a cheap battery charger. If you want to charge two Canon batteries you'll need two chargers. Also, if you're ever in a jam, it's much easier to buy or borrow a battery charger than a Canon charger. If you ever change cameras you'll be stuck having to buy new Canon batteries, as the 60D and 7D use different batteries. AA won't give you that problem.
