T2i and editing help?

Hi all,

I filmed some nice skate footy a couple days ago (in 720@60fps), and I've been trying to edit it for quite some time. I am accustomed to FCP, but as my Macbook Pro is in the shop I've been using Adobe Premiere Pro. Assuming the resolution for the shots were 1280 x 720, this is what I set my project for. There was no preset for it (only DVCPROHD 720p, which was 960 x 720) so I had to make my own. When rendering/exporting, I couldn't get the settings quite right so it looks like crap. Can anyone explain my issue? Firstly, what exactly does the T2I shoot? DVCPRO HD, or something else? Was there any setting I should have chosen other than my custom? Does it really shoot in 960x720 instead of 1280x720? Should I use a video editor other than Premiere? I know this is broad, so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Did you shoot at 720 60fps for a slo-mo look?

The camera shoots at either 720 or 1080 in HD (there may be some other SD variations but they'll be in the manual). Have you tried a 1080 project out of interest?

T2i shoots h.264 mpeg 4 video in either 1080p or 720p, 1920x1080 or 1280x720. You shot 59.97 720p which a lot of people use for slo mo. Is that what you were trying to do?

In CS4 I had to make my own setting for the 7D until CS5 came out. CS5 handles the native video files from the T2i really well. Hope that helps.

Thanks guys, I had no idea that they shot h.264... that makes a lot more sense now. Brad (WhiteMonkey), what preset do you use that takes the t2i files really well? I'm using the 720@60 for both slow mo and non slow-mo... I believe that the t2i can only shoot 720 at 60, and not 30, otherwise I would have mixed and matched.

I have a 7D, but its the same. I use the DLSR 24 setting to start off with. I can get most of my editing done with that. That's in CS5.

I'm using Premiere Pro CS5... here are my presets available to me:

Do you have different presets than this? I suppose I am using the trial, but that SHOULD have every preset the non-trial has...
