T2i/550D true video representation

Hello all,

I've found myself a bit wary when viewing recorded footage on my computer because my LCD monitor is pretty cheap, and probably not properly calibrated at all, so most of the videos look a bit washed out or too bright. Is that the way the videos were recorded, or just my monitor? What's the best way to view the videos I shoot to make sure I get a correct exposure etc. Is the camera LCD a good representation of the true footage?

Thanks

LCDs generally have very greyish blacks. CRTs are best for viewing correct colors, if you happen to have one on hand.

Hi!

What software do you play files with? I noticed that Quicktime is usually messing up the gamma. Play the video with VLC and check if they are washed-out.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Grunf, that's it! Opened the .movs in Windows Media Player and they seemed more or less the same as you see on the camera LCD. Thank you.
