T2i 24p Shutter Speed

Hey I have a quick question that will probably get me shouts of "noob!"

When shooting 24p on my T2i I cannot figure out what my basic shutter speed should be. What I mean by basic is 1/48th is the standard speed for 24p on my DVX. It's the correct speed for a 180-degree shutter at 24fps in film.

The T2i has [1/] 30, 40, 50, etc but no 48. Should I go with 40 to be equivalent? Seems logical doesn't it?

Thanks

Wait, so you're saying that 40 is more logical than 50 for trying to get as close to 48 as possible? I don't really understand the thinking behind that one.

But 1/50th can be a problem with you're shooting with ballasted lights, like fluorescents, in NTSC/ATSC regions. 1/60th should be what you use to avoid flickering issues when working with such lights. But otherwise, 1/50th is fine. If you're in PAL land, stick to 1/50th at all times.

Yeah I totally blonded out on that one. I even wrote 1/50 in my original post.
Duh...
Don't know how I couldn't figure that out
