System Error P2 Micon Error!

Hey guys,
Today I was trying to copy the files from HVX to a Mac desktop. It would start
copying, but, very soon, "System Error P2 Micon Error" message appears on the
LCD of the Camera that forces me to turn off the camera.

I tried about everything that I could think of, but it didn't seem to work. Even, I
tried to just import to FCP directly from the camera, but the same message
appeared in the middle of the process.

But later on, my friend who has a Apple laptop didn't have any problem to dump
the files onto his laptop.

I'd really like to have the "using HVX as a HDD" workflow since I don't own a
laptop.

I've found a few threads on this topic, but there didn't seem to be any solutions
found.

Just to let you guys know, I've tried to use another HVX with the same P2 cards,
but it failed as well. Also, I've tried this on two different desktops; a G4 and a
G5.

Any thoughts on this? or should I just contact Panasonic?

Anyone?

Anyone?

Well, apparently not so many people have this issue, but I'm sure some do. Any of you
forum wranglers has notes on this error?

I have never seen that error in that context. The only time I've ever seen that error is when trying to use the "frame rate hack" to record to a P2 card.

Someone at one point suggested that having a bad SD card loaded in the camera could cause this. I don't see how, but hey, it's worth a shot. Do you have an SD card mounted in the side of the camera? Try pulling it out and then re-running your transfer test.

Thanks Barry,
I've read a few, and only, threads about the topic prior to posting a new topic. I wish I
had a SD card in so that could be the solution, but too bad I didn't have it.

The 1 time that I got that error the symptom was that I could NOT go into record mode. It seemed that changing the Recording Format reset things and the camera starting working again. I swithced from 720p to 480i, when I put it back to 720p I was able to record again.

I know, it sounds crazy but ...... give it a shot.

Thanks carlone,

I've tried to switch the setting around, but it still gave me the error. Well, I think it's about time for me to talk to Panasonic. Thanks for your help again.

Not to raise an old topic from the dead but I am having the exact same problem! Has there been anything new with this error? I mean it is EXACTLY as the other person was describing

I'm also having the same problem trying to import p2 footage into Final Cut Pro 5.1.4 Import starts and then the HVX goes in the the blue screen with flashing "System Error P2 Micon Error"
Final Cut freezes and I have to restart the system. I did try P2 Genie and HDlog
the same thing happens the program hangs the HVX goes into error.
Tried to repair P2 card and it's not working.

Has anybody found a solutions to this problem?

Same thing, mostly: importing from the camera into FCP 5.1.4, and saw the P2 Micon Error message while importing the first clip of three. Mind you, it might have appeared earlier; I just noticed it during the import.

However, all three clips imported without problems, and I was able to eject the P2 cards from within FCP and then shut down the camera. The clips were fine, both on the camera and in FCP.

Reconnected the camera, and was able to re-import the same clips again. This time the error message did not occur.
