Syncing timecode on two HPX171s

Hi

Can someone give me a simple step by step explanation of how to sync up the timecode of two HPX171's so that when we film with two camera the timecodes will match.

Also - once I've done this does the time code stay te same thereafter - or is it something I should do before each use of dual camera?

Thanks in advance if you can assist.

You will have to do it before each shoot to be sure they are in sync. I do this with the HPX170 and HPX300 all the time with decent results, never perfect. The HPX250 will change that workflow for me I hope.

The 250 with the 300, certainly -- you can cable-sync them and leave them attached. The 250 with the 170, will be the same process as the 300 with the 170.

Thanks Barry, do the cameras have to stay attached to keep in sync? I had thought once you had the time code in sync with the 2 cameras the cords could be cut (so to speak).

You can definitely "cut the cord", but when you do so, that introduces the potential for sync drift. It's done all the time, of course... what I'm saying is that the 250 now has the ability to remain tethered, which assures perfect sync. So it can do both.
