syncing time code with HVX200A

I have couple of shoots coming up that will be multi cam with the 300 and a 200 or 200a. is there a way to sync the tc between the two in free run? thanks

Not really. The 300 uses regular LTC timecode in/out, and the 200/200A don't have that. The 200/200A use firewire to sync timecode, and I don't think the 300 offers that.

The hardscrabble way is to use the same remote control to trigger the cameras to start free run simultaneously, but I don't think the 300 has the remote sensor to use that remote.

So... unless someone writes in with a better solution, about the only thing I can think of that you could do is you could set them to zero and swap them into free run as simultaneously as you can get it, and then shoot a short burst of each other's timecode display so you have a reference for just how far out-of-sync they are. you should be able to get them within maybe 10 frames of each other by manually starting them simultaneously. Then shooting each other's LCD screen will show you just how many frames different they are and you can then note that for post, so that they'll know to move the clips on the timeline by that many frames to get sync.

the only other way to do it that i know is a clap with both camera shooting at it...both recording video and sound...easy to sync after...but you need to do an other clap at each stop tape.

I would assume the DV output of the 300 would contain TC and would sync
the 200's in free-run VCR mode? .. Granted,
you'll have to start in DVCPro to get it ... then sync to the 200's using DV ..
and then you should be able to return to AVC ??

Yea it works ... we've got two 300's and two 200a's .. the only thing you
have to remember is to re-sync the 200's whenever you change batteries or
power cycle. There's a considerable hiccup in the timecode when you power
down and up on the 200's.

The 300's are easy with a TC cable.
