General Syncing issues from on board mic

A buddy of mine is having some issues syncing the audio from his on board mic to the track from the CD.

Here is what he posted and I would love to know what caused this to avoid it.

"Here is the problem im having... I took the audio from the cd that played at the performance and synced it up to the 7D on board mic. Now for some reason the cd audio ends up being faster, so i have to cut it and over lap it to match up with the mouth. i find this very annoying. do any other 7D or 5D people have this problem?"

Has anyone have a clue what happened? I haven't heard of something like this happening....

Thanks

Are you talking about the audio clip being a bit shorter than the camera clip?

If so it's pretty straightforward. You'll get more info from the help files, but a summary is:

You can stretch it by using the same method as trimming -
Line up the start of the audio with the correct location.
Position the cursor at the end of the clips, trim the camera clip as needed, but only roughly trim the audio.
To trim a clip you drag the ends - I only say this to illustrate stretching. To stretch a clip, press and hold the control key while dragging the end of the clip. For best results zoom in fairly tight on the timeline and turn all snapping off first. You can trim as normal afterwards.

Roughly written, but I hope clear enough :) As mentioned, also check the help file for further details. This method works at least in all versions from 7 up.

You might also check the settings on your sequence. Make sure the audio rate sequence settings match the music off the CD, which was probably recorded at 44.1 khz, 16-bit. If the current sequence setting is 48 khz, try changing it to 44.1 khz. Control click on the sequence icon, go down to settings, then make the change in audio settings in the dialogue box. Then import the CD music into the 44.1 khz, 16-bit timeline.
