7D Swap Nikon for Canon Lens?

Hello everyone,

I will be in the market for a Canon 7D to use for both video and photography. Thing is, I've been a Nikonian and all of my lenses are Nikon mounts. So I'm looking for some suggestions/guidance. Being that I will be making that leap to the other side, should I swap all of my lenses for Canon or should I keep the Nikon lenses. I also plan on getting a 35mm lens as well as something possibly wider, should I get Canon lenses going forward? These are the lenses that I currently own plus a Speedlight:

Nikkor 50mm 1.8D AF - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/2 ... _50mm.html

Nikkor 80-200mm 2.8D (Nikon ED) Push-pull Zoom (has a Hoya 77mm UV filter that I can't seem to remove, on very tight) - http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/80-200mm-f28-af.htm

Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 Aspherical XR DiII SP AF - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/6 ... f_2_8.html

Tamron 90mm 2.8 SP AF Di Macro - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/3 ... _8_Di.html

Nikon SB-600 Speedlight Flash - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/3 ... i_TTL.html

Thanks guys!

Jon

Any of your Nikon lenses would be usable with an adapter like the Fotodiox - provided that they have a manually adjustable iris.

You won't have AF, or VR (IS in canon-speak).

I would just keep your Nikons, and then maybe buy an all-purpose Canon lens with IS, in case you want to do any handheld. The 18-200 IS is only about $600.00.

You'll have to replace your speedlight as well.

I use the Fotodiox adapter on a set of Nikon primes with excellent results. If I were you I would keep the Nikon glass and get the adapters.

thanks guys! Looks like I'll be holding on to my Nikons :) I've also heard about a Kawa adapter. Is the Fotodiox better or are they the same?

Don't know about the Kawa but I love the Fotodiox, I bought the "amateur" version, it was not costly and is well-made.
