support group for low waitlisters

You guys are lucky. When I asked Rush at EVS where I was on the list for my two cameras, he said he didn't remember me placing an order, and then he said he would be on vacation for the next week!
(I sent him a copy of his e-mail telling me I was on the list as of Dec 6 after I sent the request on Dec 3.) Perhaps I need to broaden my search criteria, anyone know the number for Specialized Communications Corporation?
While we are at it here perhaps we need to start posting all of the dealers you guys know of who will get some of these HVX marvels. Competition is the essence of free market capitalism after all.
David

I wish you also mentioned that responded to you before I went on vacation, and I said I would backdate your order to your original email date.

Thanks Rush, I thought I'd fallen through the cyber cracks and gotten lost. By the way, where does that put me number wise?

David

I think mid to late January is pretty much a dogmatic reply (like the Seinfeld restaurant sketch, "10 minutes!").

Could Rush or any of the venders here tell us how many cameras have already shipped from their store? It's one thing to know your number on the list but without knowing how many have been served already that number becomes meaningless.

Cheers

I think mostly everyone was on vacation. I expect we'll hear a lot about shippments later today when everyone gets back to their offices. :)

B&H's response was from today, back from vacation, and telling me next to nothing. Grrr!!! Okay, back to my wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait...

Hey what are u guys complaining about? I live in Australia and we wont even see the sight of one till march some time! Well at least all the bugs will be worked out.

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know we just got back in from holiday, and got 3 cameras. Only 2 went to rentals like I promised, and the first owner of the EVS HVX200 is getting his camera shipped out today or tomorrow. We have no idea how many more are coming or when, but when I find out that Panny is shipping more cameras to us, I will post it.

Awesome Rush, thanks for keeping us updated. Knew the first shipment was going to be low but 3 is surprising, ahh well.

Cheers

Today I called my dealer here in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, (Hey! There are more than a million of us in NY - so don´t think we wake up late ;)) and he told me that there won´t be bigger numbers of HVX in the next weeks. He said Panasonic had some trouble and slowed down the production. Maybe, maybe there might be a presentation in february...

Just got done my first test in the lobby with two other DVXuser members. I just... I just... wow...
We shot a full 10min. 41sec. on a 4GB card at 720P/24PN Native. The camera was super-responsive, everything in the menu happened quickly, and so did calling up the one large 10 minute clip. No delays.
There were absolutely no motion artifacts, no stuttering, no aberration, no stair stepping, no nothing. Just a clean beautiful super-accurate 24P image, even when we were whipping it in CU's, panning fast/slow/med, shooting a face against a lightsource, shooting small details on a face, people walking across the screen fast/med/slow. We did everything. It was beautiful.
We shot the whole thing on the P2, and then played it back on a 42" Panasonic plasma monitor. Anyone who passed the monitor was slobbering at the image...
The camera can process the difference between light/med/dark orange on a fluorescent orange sand bag.
It maintained detail on someone's face, even when there was a hot kicker light on them. The highlights were maintained... wowee. We noticed a bit of yellow fringe on bright fluor light sources, but it was tight, barely noticeable. The iris was wide open anyhow, and we weren't compensating for it.
There was a bit of noise in the dark areas, but it was soooo acceptable, and quite unnoticeable. A bit of grain makes the picture more organic anyhow.
When you fast forward and rewind, you see EVERY frame in the LCD and monitor... No more Mpeg2 stutter, seeing every 10th frame, or DV break up, or interlacing issues.

Rewinding in P2 mode :)

You're welcome Reg. I'm gonna do more tests Thursday. I got 4 classes to teach tomorrow, but I can't wait to get back in to EVS Thursday to get some more footage shot on the HVX.

Oh MAN! Thanks Rush.

I feel like a bunch of kids in Rush's back seat,

"Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Tell us more about Disney uncle Rush! Is Does Mickey have good latitude?"

Really!! As I sit here digitizing 3 full 30 min BetaSP tapes.
When will the agony end!!???

Okay, I just got off the phone with panasonic. I got some good news! A SECOND shipment of HVX's left Japan this morning! The bad news is that the shipment is only two cameras, but if both units go to EVS that's bump me up two spots to #87! At this rate I should get my HVX around February of 2009! I'm so excited!

Haha, so true brian.

I'm starting to think even the "high" waitlisters are gonna need a support group soon...
