Sunflower Season

Wow.

I'd love to find a location like that... too bad it's like a desert down here in TX. Write a script, incorperate that field, and shoot a short!

wow, that was pretty cool. did you have the OIS on? i thought i saw some "stick and move" on your pans...

what do they do with sunflowers besides make sunflower oil? anything? sweet shots.

Thanks... these fields are all over around here... Beautiful. I just wish I could shoot better!! Aargh. Practice and patience. I'm going to head out again with a fresh tape and try some other settings.

I think the stick and move are two part problems... it's playing back at 24fps, so there's the standard film yuk on pan and I've got a crappy head on my sticks. For some reason I can't convince my wife to get me a really nice setup. Maybe just needs some oil. Plus I was standing in some freshly churned up dirt.

Thanks though.

Nice job, it would be cool if you could have got some shots out of the crop duster looking down.
what lens did you use?

Really? I really liked it. Perhaps you could share how you did it sometime. :) It just looked like something that would be done in Motion.

Dude, what if you put an explosion at the end when the planes goes down...
that would make the movie for me. The rest was very well done but needs some actio maybe.

(I hope you knoe this is a joke)

Good job.

great little piece. i like the juxtaposition of the houses and the powerlines next to the field in the end, after we had seen the natural beauty of the sunflowers and the blue sky. that was effective, and 100% intentional im sure:wink:

Ted -- kind of normal camera settings... lower the master ped a bit... but normal adjustments every where else. I did do a touch of cc'ing in post. Mainly to crush blacks and even out the reds. Again, wasn't much.

DVX -

I started out a field farther away from those houses... but there were HUGE powerlines going over that field... so I chose the houses instead.

Thanks,

Well, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of wonderful shots, an excellent location, and great music. Great stuff!

Amazing shots...made me forget it was done on a dvx. That goes to show you, the eye, is the real tool. Good work.

Been out of town for a few days so I just saw this today...beautiful shots Captain. I've been wanting to shoot some footage out in the fields too, as I drive by those fields (and others) every day.

Yea, I know..I'll probably miss them again this year. I've said for the last 3 years that I need to get out there and film them. Maybe next year I'll actually do it . . . it's WAY TOO HOT to go out there in the next few days!!
