Summer Demo Reel 2010

Hey guys, I just wanted to post this to see what you all thought of some of the work I've done between Mid 2009 and now. A lot of it is shot on the Canon 7D, but there is also footage from the HVX200 and Sony EX3. You'll probably be able to pick it apart and tell whats what. Most of the motion graphics were created at 4K and down-ressed to 1080p for this. Let me know what you think! I recently left a job at a production firm in my area where I was employed as the senior producer and I am now looking for a new job. I'm 23 years old and not one day of college courses to corrupt my creative mind.

I hope you guys enjoy it!

Really enjoyed that man. I also really liked your Attack Attack video and didn't understand why they got another video made for it... keep up the great work!

Great, now I'm depressed. When I was 23 all I knew how to do was open a bottle of beer. This is some great work you got here and you should have no problem landing gigs.

As for "what I think", (and keep in mind this is just my opinion)

-Too long. Lose some of that stop motion footage in the beginning and go right into the good stuff*. I love that Scirocco, but cut waaaaay back on the VW footage.

*By good stuff I mean: the war shots, some of the music videos, most of your 3D letters/motion graphics, the firemen & some of the corporate work.

I'd say a good demo reel for what you're doing should be no longer than ninety seconds.

-This is so minor, but as a thumbnail, that shot of wheat doesn't really do justice to all of what's on your demo. You've done some serious client work...you're not just a dude out shooting blades of grass in his backyard.:grin:

-The song seems to be dragging this reel down. I'd go with something more high energy.

Overall, looks great. But if you want a "demo reel review", I'd say cut it down to 1/2 the length it is.

Great!! really like it...just wondering, for the soldier scenes, what do you use for color grading? Manually or some preset like Magic Bullet or anything equivalent?
