here's what i'm looking for:
prosumer HD cam
wireless mic
shotgun mic

budget- circa $2k flexible but also looking for affordable, while keeping the quality high!

this will be used for shooting footage of a fitness instructor doing workouts, for online.
the cam alone (without additional mic's) shouldn't require a complicated setup or be bulky- i need her to use it herself and feel comfortable taking with her on the road.

i'm not interested in HDSLR's and am leaning towards prosumer camcorders.

i was looking at the Canon VIXIA XA10, which looked perfect, and then i read that it won't shoot clips longer than 12mins without skipping frames- this would be a problem as the workouts are often 15 mins long, and some workshops she teaches run for 45 mins.

for the wireless mic i've been recommended the Azden 310LT UHF On-Camera Bodypack System http://www.adorama.com/VDAZ310LT.html

i'd appreciate any recommendations for the HD cam & shotgun mic- many thanks in advance!

I shot a couple of short films on a Vixia. It had a weird issue that every OTHER frame looked interlaced. It make keying quite a bad surprise, and quite difficult. Skin tones weren't too bad, but the exposure control as a nightmare.

I would much, much, much rather have a hacked GH2 at that price range.

Much.

I think you'll get a lot of GH2 recommendations. Other options are Panny HMC40, XM900 or last year's TM900. Also Sony MC50.
