Suggestion for first HVX footage...

Regarding testing, greenscreen shots, etc. -- Jarred and I will put the camera through its paces once it's available. We'll do a three-way test between the HD100, HVX and Z1 (and, if Canon has anything out by then that's directly comparable, we'll include the Canon as well). We'll do greenscreen and all that stuff.

However, don't expect to see any of that prior to the camera's formal release. None of that will be in the "first footage" that Panasonic's aiming for in September... that's all hardcore testing stuff, and by very definition the first footage will be coming from a pre-release camera. So it would be unwise and unfair to the HVX to put it through its full paces before it's fully finished and released.

But yes, we'll definitely do a three-way megatest once the cams are all on the market!

Just don't let (I think it was Rich) film the early footage.. I'm still reeling from when he scared the crap out of me on his last HVX video :)

Two tests I'd appreciate:
1) Comparison between the HVX200 and uprezzed footage from the SDX900
2) Latitude test using a chip chart.

Are you also thinking of doing a film out test?

That would also be cool.

Barry,

If you need to pay for a filmout test or anything else, maybe we could chip in the odd pound or dollar to help out. After all, you are doing a lot of hard work for us. If 200 people chipped in 2 dollars or so...?

Film out would be good. We were going to do that on the last test, but it seemed silly because it would be comparing HD against SD. But in this test, three HD cameras... yes, we really should.

Latitude testing with chip charts will be happening as well, yes.

mmm, thanks for the offer! I may have an angle on it that will let us do it for free, but we will see...

Wouldn't it be possible to ask DVFilm to sponsor film out? Markus sounds keen on supporting such tests. Saw his banner ads here, so I'm sure Jarred has his details.

Yes, when its time I'm sure we can find someone to help out, a film out would be most benificial for the target market.
