FS5: suggestion for Amadou

Hi Amadou. I hope you're still there... of course you are!

Can I suggest a camera that is MUCH better than the FS5? I refer to the Canon range. There are several that you might consider. What I suggest is you ask a question (or two...) on a Canon forum. I'm sure they'd love to have you, although we'd miss you terribly over here. And then there are a load of forums where you can check on the Ursa range. I'm sure you'll want to explore their possibilities in depth. Have fun.

When people in real life lack social cues we don't make fun or start conversations for the sole purpose of mocking them. If you're not interested in entertaining the question then ignore it and let the moderators do their job to keep the forum organized and functional. Pretty disgusting what's going on over here.

I have tested various cameras including the JVC L300 (It has issues).

What issues did you have personally?

...and by the way... anybody who tells you you can't shoot a movie with good sound going straight into thd camera in XLR does not know what he's talking about.

You can do it, but should you do it? Nope, not recommended it.

Just like many people have shot feature films on just an iPhone, you can, but it is far from ideal and it will mean compromises along the way.

I have to agree. I am just as much of an ass as anyone, but over the years I’ve learned not to say MOST of horrible things I think and be nice. Mostly. I think there is an innate human desire to mock, hence bullying etc. Doesnt mean that’s a GOOD thing. We can fight/go against the crappiest parts of our nature. Yes I know this will probably be thrown back at me next time I’m assy on here.

Hi Egproductions and Josh Bass

I tend to agree with what you have said, especially the way you said it Josh, and hence my fourth post in this thread.

But come on guys, I haven’t counted but Doug Jensen, a major contributor of excellent free knowledge to this forum, said the person we are discussing has started 15 threads on essentially the same subject and has rejected almost all the advice she/he has been offered. Others have criticised his/her attitude in several ways. Doesn’t there come a point when we have to question whether it it is selfish or lazy or disrespectful or abusive of a free resource, and therefore risking its continued existence for others, to continue to start threads that could have been covered adequately in maybe two threads?

I accept I should work harder on controlling my basic reactions to that sort of behaviour, like you Josh, although I don’t agree it’s a form of bullying, which is something I abhor - it is, or mine was, an attempt (obviously a failed attempt) at using humor to react to the disrespect I felt was being shown to generous contributors here. I appreciate this forum greatly and do not want to see contributors like Doug driven away.

I don't want to see anyone driven away, either, not even Amadou. But like Josh, my natural urge to be an ass is often hard to overcome. I just find it especially irritating when people ask for advice but don't even open their ears to listen to the answers that are given.

flooding forums with multiple threads, asking questions which can easily be answered by a little effort (reading manuals, using the wonderful new google thing), being ignorant, refusing advice of people with experience, getting bitchy when criticised - off course you can ignore those threads and those people. But they annoy those guys who keep the forum alive with their advice and experience

Exactly.

It seems that posters like that "flooding forums with multiple threads, asking questions which can easily be answered by a little effort ... getting bitchy when criticized", and I would add acting at the same time like know-it-alls - are also almost always the threads that get the most replies. I try to stay away but they do present an almost irresistible lure - hence here we are!

I dig but again, I would either take the high road and say, “look dude, we tried, you rejected, and now I simply wish you good luck” or take “fvck it” road and stop responding period.
