Stutter test and fix

Many times a subject here and always been a challange to me
has been my rendering/viewing platforms tendency to "studder"
with high datarate video streams. The native Canon MOV file
at 1920x1080x30 is a challange at least for all of my platforms
until reciently. Just playing a "raw" MOV file from the SD
media directly, or a copy of that on the HD, resulted in studder.
I have had to convert the MOV file to something easier like
DV or something so that the video editor ( Kino or OpenShot )
can deal with it.

I would like to know if you folks using the Apple platforms
need to re-encode the captured MOV file into another format
before importing that into Avid or ACS before editing
or just viewing?

In the last week I've built a new editing platform using a
new Gigabyte Z68X MoBo, Intel 2600k and Gigabyte Fermi video
card. Just 8GB of DRAM for now. Linux Kernel is 2.6.38.7
on an unreleased Distribution ( Beta 3 ). The 2600k is
still running at 3.4Ghz and has not been overclocked yet.

So I've edited a very short video with a dissolve transition
that has lots and lots of movement in it and no studder.
I can also play three raw MOV videos, all at the same time,
without any studder. Watching the CPU loading ( 8-threads )
tells me that the CPU is almost at idle. Here's that file:
