stuff nobody talks about

Hi to all,

just watched news and heard about the world climate report - seems like sad news.
Those "FILM IS BETTER THAN HD ( or in this case, Red )" - guys won´t acknowledge this but I thought about the negative effects of the film industry on the environment and climate, like the huge amounts of film that is produced then developed with the aid of lots of chemicals and the diverse types of waste that accumulates during these steps. Some people will say that the production of digital cameras produces toxic waste, too, but I won´t comment on that.
What I´m saying is, systems that let us get rid of film during movie production and projection will relieve the environment anyway - I know how third-world countries treat those wastes - they simply flush it into the next river or directly into the soil.

Film is great - isn´t it ?

Saving the environment of the chemicals used in the manufacturing and processing of film is a great bi-product of saving ourselves from the huge and sometimes inhibiting costs of film and processing - not to mention instant dailies! Digital cinema is long overdue, and Red is very welcome!

I don't know how much Film there's actually produced. But if I was to compare it to **** like batteries that don't get disposed of properly. I think worrying about film waste is like stressing over brushing your teeth when you have terminal cancer.

After reading the title, I thought this thread was about herpes.
BLUE-Yeh, any suggestions as to the treatment of a severe breakout

Really? I've heard that applying it that way gives one a nervous stammer, often causing a person to repeat their sentences up to 3 times.

I recall my father's office at Kodak in Spain having an aquarium that was claimed to be filled with their processing chemicals. The fish looked pretty healthy in it.

I'm going to have a solar-powered, "GREEN"-screen studio. It will have to be grid-tied with an electric utility account, so I can still power the studio at times when no power is being generated. Check these things out: http://www.stirlingenergy.com/ These these dishes can produce more kilowatts then I could probably use, even with multiple studio lights running. You can set it up so you can sell the excess electricity back to the electric company. I'm hoping it will also attract clients who care about the environment.

Maybe I should change the name to Solar-powered system studios...

I hope Berkshires isn't like Hollywood. Most of the producers I know are happy to reduce costs in anyway possible. Hell, they'd use a studio that runs on ground up puppies to save a buck.

No, I'm not joking. I would buy one of these in a couple years if they get mass-produced and sell for less then $50k. They produce 25kw.

There is not much production going on in the Berkshires since Doug Trumbull is pretty much retired. I'm just hoping to use his studio which has been empty for the last couple of years. There is a warehouse with greenstage already set up. The previous tenants paid next to nothing for rent, and I used to work on one of Doug's projects (The Book of Pooh).

Good luck ! That sounds very interesting - inform us when your site is up.
BTW my father built a little stirling engine - it was like some sort
of magic seeing this machine com to life.
