Strobist technique with GH1

Hello everyone. I bought 2x GH1's for event videography and figured since it takes great pictures as well I might as well learn how to use it! Well, every photographer I've talked to has pointed me to the strobist main site. There isn't a whole lot of micro four thirds talk over there but all the flashes that they suggest you use are fairly universal (and generally, they never recommend using any auto/ttl modes anyway, just strictly manual).

I'm looking at buying two flashguns. There is a good strobist set on mpexx for 260 that has umbrella/stand/wireless trigger/essentially everythign you need for a one flash setup. I would likely buy another lumopro lp120 (this is the flash taht comes in the strobist kit) to go along with this for a total of approx. $400.

Now, with a maximum $400 budget (I'd rather stay under $300), what is the best off camera lighting set up to buy that at least includes one flashgun and wireless triggers (probably the newer cactus triggers)? I'm sorry I'm so vague, it's just, that's how new I am with this.

if you are shooting manual I have a few of the old vivtar 285's that worked well for me in the past.

I use the nikon CLS stuff now but I don't do a ton of complex flash photography mostly just basic event run and gun stuff. It works for what I do but basically a manual flash is a manual flash make sure it is durable and has enough power for what you are doing etc.

The strobist setup has it pretty much down for what you need.

This site is setup for mostly video so you question may be answered better somewhere else.
