I stripped the tripod nut on the xha1. Can this be replaced? Do it yourself? And where do I buy the part? Any help is appreciated.

Do you mean you stripped the threaded hole underneath the A1 that you screw the TA-100 Tripod Adaptor mounting plate into?
Canon warn about overtightening any screw there .. it's a wonder you didn't pull the bottom of the cam clean off. Sounds like a trip to the shop.
But if you're in the US try calling Customer Support 1-800-828-4040 for help.

Wasn't so much over tightening it then it was cross threading. It is still usuable, but will have to be replaced one day, and maybe soon. I would think this would be a common part, but I guess I'm wrong. Thanks for the number and I will be sure to look into it.
