When we were in LA finalizing the sound mix and Stricken's Blu-ray, I was
asked by Del Weston to be one of the experts on a panel of filmmakers
on Sunday night the 25th at the Action On Film Festival. I accepted and it will be an honor. :thumbsup:

That's cool Matt! When is Stricken's screening? We're set for Saturday at 6:00pm!

Final Mix Trip!
We left with excitement and joy...
One of our grips Andrew Owens went along to help out. What a great guy.
We were somewhere between Delano and Bakersfield, California on Interstate 99 southbound when the right rear tire literally exploded. The explosion was so intense that the back of the truck literally lept into the air. The tire shredded all over the freeway and the truck became extremely difficult to control. We were able to dodge trucks and cars on both sides and escaped to the edge of the roadway. I drove is off onto the dirt to get farther away from the roadway.
This is the view of the tire we first saw after getting off the road...
Matt was soooo excited...
The tire had ejected most of the rubber, delaminated and was paper thin. Then we found out the tire jack crank was so thin it bent the first time we tried to raise the jack. Whooo hoo.
By cranking slowly and only using a quarter turn at a time I was able to slowly raise the truck... until the crank finally broke completely.
I finally got it off and then on again by mining the shoulder of the road... Only a paper thin layer was left...

Wow...Something is pissed it's going to be revealed in film?? But seriously I'm glad you guys are alright....I've had two blowouts on the freeway in Rental Cars in the last two years....
one on the Bay Bridge and one where the 405 meets the 5 going northbound out of
L.A. ....the last time some weirdo beetle browed cross eyed X con looking dude with a dessicated tiny little old lady in the passenger seat....pulled in behind me and asked if I needed 'Help'...heh heh
fortunately I looked a little scarier than he did and told him I'd already called Triple A ...haha

I tried to use other parts of the tubing of the crank but to no avail...
So I mined the shoulder deeper to fit the large inflated spare tire...
Then we tightened up the spare and got back on the road to our lodging.
We stayed at my Uncle Bruce's house. He is an old Marine and a wonderful guy.
Matt showed some of our cousins some of the exciting clips.
We went over to Tibbo Sound the next day and YAY, Stephanie French showed up from Hollywood and sat in on the mix. Here she is with cute mother-to-be Heather Sconce. She is going to have a boy, Kaden Matthew Sconce: Future film maker!
Composer James Mierkey and Assistant Director Troy Ruff both showed up to get in on the mix. We ended up with Director, Producer, AD and Composer as well as one of our leads there for the mix.
Matt listens to Stephanie French as the team watches the mix by Steve Tibbo. Steve is absolutely amazing by the way...

Black Box Entertainment's Kunal Rajan showed up and said hi. His organization did the sound design for Stricken.
We worked all day and things went very well. Here the mix is on a part of the movie where actor David Fine (Detective Scott Aro) is in a key scene in the rain...
After approving the mix, Director Matt Sconce checked out the importation of the sound files into the movie by burning a blu-ray with everything on it. Here "TERMINATOR II" burns the Blu-ray. Steve Tibbo was impressed with the speed of our editing computer.
And... We watch a completed Blu-ray of Stricken to check each chapter and overall sync. What a great feeling to get the whole project together after all these months of post production!
We ran the mix through a number of different speakers, good and bad, TV speakers and major sound system speakers; stereo and 5.1 surround Sound... Here we listen to the mix through different selected speakers.
A lot of the team went out for food with a great feeling of accomplishment. We had completely finished post production! Whoooooo Hooooo!
Later we went to visit the clandestine offices of the Action on Film Festival. They are in a bunker, under a nondescript building somewhere in the Los Angeles area... Matt shows his teaser trailer to them, is interviewed for the site and then hands off the finished bluray and DVD's of STRICKEN for the festival. The Action on Film Festival personnel are very professional and interested in promoting the craft and trade of movie making. If you have never sent a film to this festival, do so.
We are now booked for another local premiere at the MET CINEMA in Oakhurst California that will be held on July 9th, at 9:30pm! This will be the largest test screening we have done as it seats 200 in the room.
Come and see.

Yeah, I was 'a groan-ing' when that tire blew out.
David... the movie is GREAT!!! I am so excited. I can't wait to see you and experience STRICKEN with the stars, DAVID FINE and STEPHANIE FRENCH!
(Don't forget... My claim to fame: The 'hanging dead body.')

I received an email a bit ago that blew my mind. It is HUGE and I can't discuss it too much, but I can say that we have someone I HIGHLY respect and is VERY experienced on our side for getting distribution. He has offered to be with us at meetings and let his contacts check out Stricken as well. I am very excited and humbled. AWESOMENESS!

I am very excited to test the Blu-ray at Avenal tomorrow! It will be the first time I see it on the big screen with the kicking theater surround sound.

Matt is going with David Gilders (short concept creator and friend) down to the cool, restored Avenal Theater to test the Blu-ray projection and digital sound. As this will be the first test screening, he wants to see what it looks like on the big screen.
