FEATURE: Stricken the Feature - A Matt Sconce Film

Just read the entire thread (read: journey). Wow, amazing to see it go from zero to here in a year -- and to have a form of documented progress is just awesome inspiration!
Learned a ton. Thank you, Aftershock Studios for making Stricken such an open journey!

No problem! I have always been about open windows into what I do because DVXuser has always been that way with me. It was due to the many stories and open people on this site that I am where I am today, so I am happy to share the journey!:cheesy:

AMEN !

Provided you have a Gary - I was going to say "or equal" - but after reading this I'm not sure there is one . . .

Best wishes to all.

Wow! Just watched the Blu-ray on James Mierkey's awesome gargantuan TV and I have some tweaks to make once again. Good to know but...when you are this close to locking the VFX it is like nails on a chalkboard to see more things to fix. Oh well. Never settle right? -Matt

Never settle... but... you also have to know when to stop :)

Yup. A film is never actually finished, just 'abandoned for distribution.'

These were just slight color issues with mattes. No biggie, but they would have possibly distracted and so, must be slightly changed.

Last night James Mierkey shared with Matt and I some more of the score.... All I can say is...

Wow! :2vrolijk_08:

If you'd like to send me some Blu-ray clips on a disc, I've got a Panasonic PT-AX100U 720P projector, Pioneer Elite KURO 50" plasma, Sony 32" 1080p LCD, a Panasonic 42" Plasma EDTV, a PS3, and Sony BDP-550 and LG 200 Blu-ray players. All are pretty nicely set up. I could give you quite a bit of feedback on the PQ...

Thanks! Let me think about it and see after the next pass how we are doing. I may take you up on that. -Matt

Here is a video of the credits for Stricken. If you want to, scan through and let me know if you see any mistakes in spelling. Thanks! I know of a couple already but know you will find more. -Matt

...
When all is said and done, Stricken will be almost identical to the script which won best adapted Screenplay at AOF last year. It is crazy to see the words on the page actually exist visually. I read the script and think "Wait, that has been filmed already" and it is a very good feeling. Kind of like watching a dream be born. :)

The above quote was when we had moved into the second month of production. I was waiting on a render and reading through the thread tonight for the first time since beginning this process. I read that line and must admit...got a bit teary. It has been a LONG journey but we are nearing the end. What an amazing and rewarding experience this has been!:crybaby:

Through this I have realized Dreaming is not enough, you have to start acting on that dream and never stop. In the words of Rocky Balboa, Its not about how hard you hit….its about how hard you can GET hit and still stand up… That has been the Stricken Story for the last 2 years of preparing for this production cycle of 4 months.

-Matt

From June of last year...so true so true.

Gee - only 10 TB of total drive space? Why that would only hold, like, the combined knowledge of the entire universe several times over. What'll you do when you run out?

: )

Above post-Posted on July 20th 2009.

Ted...I just ran out...:cheesy: I had to go buy some externals and clear off some stuff. Haha

One thing I would recommend Matt. Your credits are cool, but a little large. I always stray on making credits too large, and I've come to realize over the years that on a large TV (40" and up) and definitely in a theatrical setting, the credits become too big to read, and look really bad. I would advise making them smaller, even the ones on your credit roll. The animation is wicked cool though, and I can only imagine the music! :)

I have to agree. Looks too big and hard to read.

The guy who originally mentioned that to me, about the opening credits in No Greater Love was none other than Alex Kendrick (Fireproof, Facing the Giants fame)

Matt, I would also consider varying the direction of animation for the main credits, right now they all break apart the same way which can get boring very quickly. Also ditto what everyone said about making the credit smaller. I would adopt just a standard two columns format for the cast and crew instead of the title on top and the name following, it would be much cleaner to read.
