FEATURE: Stricken the Feature - A Matt Sconce Film

47 minutes in and plugging away. I am in the middle of a scene I worried about. There were some technical things that happened the day of filming and I was unsure how it would cut together. So far...so good! Woohoo!

UPDATE: Well the giant outdoor rain scene complete with real cops rolling up on the scene, and a 21 foot crane shooting through a rain rig, has been edited and looks great! I am at 49 minutes and at about page 40 of the script. I will have nice room to trim back, which is great as I thought I may have too short a film which will not be the case.

UPDATE: At lunch, I drove through Taco Bell and then raced home to get some editing done before coming back to my day job. My wife rocked and had the computer fired up and the project loaded, so when I walked in, I sat down and went to work. I am now at 51min. For those of you that know the script, I am back at the creepy Avenal Hospital location and Sarah is talking to Doctor Allen about coming back to work. Some really creepy scenes are about to happen which should be fun to edit. Note to self...never go put shoes on in a creepy bathroom of a retirement home, or if you have to, at least travel in packs! -Matt

Editing fueled by Taco Bell......you should propose a Commercial to
them with that Theme and featuring "Stricken"

That is sooo true. I think I have more red sauce flowing through my veins than blood at the moment. Perhaps there is an equal amount of pepsi too.

UPDATE: Local Rock band GATJA has sent me a rough cut of the rock song for the credits and I think it rocks. The end product will be given to James our composer for epic orchestral accompaniment and dark choir goodness. It is called Sick and Tired, and will end up on the sound track.

I am at minute 54 in the edit and that equates to page 47 of the script. So far, the 1 minute per page rule is not happening.

I am at the scene now I mentioned before.

NOTE TO SELF: Creepy Bathroom darkness....If you are in a creepy retirement home and you hear something weird or evil in the stall next to you...do not look!:Drogar-Evil(DBG):

That scene was so entrancing to shoot that (*sob*) Water, water, everywhere! I forgot to shoot any BTS of it. Remember the little crowd of neighborhood folks that were gathered behind the camera and crane that night? Sooooo fun.

WOOOOHOOO!!!! I am 1 hour into the cut!

Resistance is FUTILE... You will be ASSIMILATED! :violent5:

UPDATE!

Our special effects makeup pickup shots went well last night. We only had a 15 hour shoot as opposed to the 24 hour shoots we have become accustomed to. Here is a still from last night. We were able to use the 21 foot crane and rain rig to get some great stuff. I can't show anything else because it is all spoiler material.

HORRIBLE ON-SET STORY MOMENT!

Last night, Stephanie opened the contact container to find one of the full sclera black contacts had cracked in the middle. :Drogar-Kriz(DBG): This was a tragedy as we needed them for all the shots. We debated using one contact and hiring a VFX person to replicate that in the other eye, but that requires money. Stephanie pulled me into the bathroom told me the contact would not ruin the movie, and after a terrible ordeal, made the contact work. By the end of the night, both had cracked. After the final scene, the conatcs were removed and a gleeful cast debated whether or not to burn them. We opted to save them and frame them for creepy posterity! :engel017: Stephanie French is a cool Irish lass.

One last shoot night tonight and then we have wrapped pickups.

UPDATE: We wrapped complete actor Production last night! Final shot was a green screen shot for a nightmare sequence! It was a great feeling! Grabs to be posted from last night soon! -Matt

Congratulations on wrapping your actors...that's a great feeling. As always, the shots look intriguing...can't wait to see more.

It is funny... The last nights went so smoothly. Here are some BTS:

AD Troy Ruff (Ruff Productions) shooting a plate for that greenscreen behind him and of the room ahead of him.

Rachael (Make-up artist par-excellence!) mugging for the camera. Matt and Troy go over some previous shots for consistancy as Stephanie French looks on in costume.

Stephanie French (Sarah Black in STRICKEN) listens to Dante's Inferno on the Ipod to prepare for a dramatic scene as Matt and Troy set up a shot with the HVX.

One of our many Shocklights is behind the crew.

Director and DP Matt Sconce is working, reviewing a shot while the other cast and crew are mugging for the camera. Starbucks helps sooooo much.

The crew reviews a two shot from the car on the left as the sun goes down in California.

You can see the brightness (6500K) of a Shocklight to the right. They saved the day time and time again.
