FEATURE: Stricken the Feature - A Matt Sconce Film

Hey Matt, have not been through the whole thread, but was wondering if you ever discuss your plan for the film. Did you go into this prod with an idea of how you want to get it out there? AFI? Festivals? Care you comment on that aspect?

Hey Mark! Good to see your digital face on the thread. :) I am thinking of having the film bounce to festivals as I pursue distribution. I will own all rights to all the elements of the film so I plan to sell it to one of the tier 2 Indie film distributors outright (aiming at theatrical-then DVD and Blue ray release) I plan to use the money to recoup costs and make the next movie. That is my plan as it stands now. :)

Did you make any production decisions based on what you plan to do with it? Casting? Script? Anything you changed based on where you plan on taking it?

I don't think so. I know I am shooting for Blu-Ray Masters along with Digi-betas and standard Def, so I am shooting with as crisp of focus as possible. I basically am coming out with both guns blazing and then pounding the pavement until it takes off. That is my strategy. :) -Matt

That's really interesting Matt. How are you maintaining such sharp critical focus? Are you shooting a f4 and avoiding dollying on the z-axis?

Love the new grabs. Are you juggling a day job during all this?

Good luck on selling this thing and making the next one.

I am watching the focus on a 1280 by 720p Monitor. About a 19 incher. I always recheck the focus and focus on the eyes. My goal is to always have crispy eyes and all is well. :) I work two jobs and shoot this movie. I am a commercial Editor for the Local NBC affilliate, a youth leader at my church for about 50 junior highers and a freelancer shooting two music videos, and a long form. I am exhausted but focused and extremely driven. Sometimes probably to an unhealthy level, but it is what has gotten me to the point I am.

Hey Matt, just wanted to say good luck. I know how tiring it can be working and making movies (which is a full time job in it self) and I've only done short films, I can't imagine a feature. You are tough son of a gun.

Can't wait for the final product on this. By the way, you did indeed produce some nice sharp images, congrats! Any BTS images heading our way?

Hey, Matt! This is great! Good to see you back! Glad you decided not to sit around and wait. Sometimes you just have to throw caution to the wind and make things happen. You film will be great and I know exactly what you mean about getting good practice at DVXuser. Keep the updates coming and don't worry, it'll all workout. Just take your time when you're done to shop it around.

Thanks! Here are some BTS shots for your viewing pleasure. More will be shot at the cemetery this Sunday. They are shot by Mike Harian.

So far so GREAT! It is really fun working with Matt and Troy on this one. Good team work and everyone is so organized. Thanks to DVXuser Justin Chandra for his magnificient volunteer grip work at the cemetary scenes last weekend. What a great grip!

I can't wait for Matt to put up the BTS of the Aftershock Car Rig we shot with last weekend. It took some great footage. Now it is time for two rain rigs... ( I am reeeeaaaaaallllly tired!)

I'll sleep when we wrap in July. :zombie_smiley:

Here are some BTS Shots from the car rig and one from the cemetery! Fun Fun. Thanks again Justin!

We pull off for some rig adjustments...people oogle and we promote the website.

How heavy of a downpour do you need? I have a couple ideas I can shoot you, unless you're already working away, as you probably are!

He actually already built them. :) Give him an hour and what he sees in his mind exists in the real world. Just look at the car rig! haha Good job Dad!

You guys are in close quarters with each other so you're bound to share a few germs! I would start handing out hand sanitizer to everyone before during and after a shoot. That might help!

That car rig is amazing. Looking forward to pics of the rain rig.

The two rain rigs are really simple. One is a suction cup hose that goes on the vehicle and shoots to the windows. It has variable sprinklers all along its length. The other is a huge oval (10'x6' that mounts on tripod light stands and has adjustable dual feeds for water. You shoot under that one.

Matt and I got some useful footage last night with the car rig. It is sturdy and we even did some car stunts with the camera running on it. Great stuff. I am home sick today... Boo. Other than getting sick, things are really going well. :love4:

We are recording Stephanie French singing tonight for use on Sunday's Cemetery scene. Tomorrow is the rain shots of Car interiors and then the final shots of the cemetery on Sunday. Almost through the 1st of the 4 month film shoot! :) -Matt

That car rig looks pretty crazy. Stills from the camera's eye please!

How are you feeling so far about your shoot, Matt? As a Producer and Director, either hat.
