Stormbreaker

Yep, We will have animated storyboards in several weeks, and then we will cast. We will be getting an old bus from a junkyard, fixing it up a bit and moving it into a rented wharehouse where we can shoot it with green screens and such. At one point we will need to lay the bus on its side. The shot involves a woman running on the side of a bus as time is messed with a bit. She then flips to the top and gets the bad guys then crashed through the windshield to fight the last, all the while the bus is moving. The girl martial artist will do this role, and we will intercut with the guy doing battle elsewhere. These two scenes will follow some building story description. :-)

It is amazing what worlds open up to you when you have an awesome compositor 3d guy with you. He was the art director for Lord of the rings : War of the ring, worked for universal, and was the head of the tolkien franchise for a bit. I feel truly lucky and blessed to have met him and that he even cared about my story. He loves it though and is excited to see what he can do with it.

i hope you're investing into rewrites like crazy. it's story not visuals. anyone can have visuals.

Yep, story has to be there but for a trailer, the visuals and emotion sell it. The story is a 300 page novel I wrote that I believe has an excellent story. We are having a screenwriter adapt it, after we outline what we are taking from the novel to cinematic form. When we present to Warner Brothers, we will have two trailers. Stormbreaker is one, and the other I am not able to talk about at the moment. We will also have a feature, I am directing in 5 months called the Cracked Limb (3-5 mil budget). The visuals will be amazing in Stormbreaker, we will have been involved in a feature. The trailers will freakin rock, and the script will be solid. We will see what happens then, but it is exciting. Step by step, is the way to go though. I will take it a day at a time.

The Cracked Limb is financed by investors in florida who have worked with the producer before. They need to set it up in escrow so we can be a SAG signatory. That is all happening now. :-) It really helps that a man named F.A. is involved as he has written budget breakdowns for 40 years in the industry. That probably helped with the funding. :-) It will be shot in the sierras.

The funny thing to me is that I was approached because the producer thought he could take a risk on a new director with this "Low Budget Feature" I of course think 2000.00 is low budget so I nearly passed out. We have been working closely and it is almost in Pre-Prod. As soon as this escrow thing is taken care of, it goes into first draw.

Yep, thanks! When first draw happens, I will be happy, but for now, I am simply waiting and hoping everything goes well.

Concept sketches will be happening soon and a website and Final Poseter made by Mark. I will let you know when that happens.
