Stormbreaker

Hello Everyone! I am currently in pre-production for a spec trailer for a movie based on my novel "Stormbreaker". I have an amazing 3D Artist and Compositor with me and our goal is to make a breathtaking action trailer. Think Underworld 2 for visuals, and mix that with LOTR and Constantine. I'll keep you posted. Will be shot on the HVX200.

Original actors in your mock-poster?

Who's the artist you're working with?

Slated Trailer Production? Projected budget? What's the story about?

That's me being interested.

Hey thanks for the interest Kholi and Brandon!

Right now these are "Mock actors" I-stock Photos....

They will be replaced with way better pics from the actors as they are cast.

The Artist I am working with is Mark Aro. He was the head of the Tolkien Franchise for a long time and has a standing relationship with Warner Bros.

He knows his way around fantasy and sci fi, that is for sure!

I am guessing the budget for the Trailer will be only about 5,000. Then, I have to add in the fact I am having my novel adapted to screenplay, so that is another 5,000. So total to make the trailer, 10,000. After that, I will have promo material...(large drawings of characters, perhaps busts of them, etc.) I will enter the trailer everywhere and try to secure funding. The investors, I have connections to might bite after seeing the trailer, budget breakdown, and completed script.

About the story: Without revealing too much. Light versus darkness. 1 dimension out of 7 is still whole (That is our dimension), but is being threatened by a huge evil. The warriors of light must battle the forces of darkness, with our fate hanging in the balance.

Expect, amazing stunts (a woman running in slow motion as shotgun blasts are ripping holes in the side of a school bus behind her, she backflips up onto the bus, sprints back down the length and drops behind the attacker, killing him. The camera tracking a bullet as it is fired and watching it split in two on the edge of a Stormbreaker sword. Massive light and fire battles. Monsters, and insanely vile creatures. TONS of swordfighting, but not sword on sword. If matrix, met underworld, met Constantine, met Lord of the Rings, met equilibrium, you would have Stormbreaker.

I will keep you updated as things progress. Another project might come first, and if so, this will be delayed. I would like a 50 mil budget for the feature.

Good luck with the trailer. I'm working on my feature at the moment and I planned on doing a trailer as well for it. S'why I asked about your budget and the like for the trailer. You ended up with something around the same number as myself.

How many pages is your book? Who are you getting to adapt it to screen?

I've always had a lot of interest for visually ambitious, low-budget projects.

My book is 300 pages and I am having the Producer Screenwriter I am directing a feature with in about 6 months, do the adaptation. The feature is The Cracked Limb 3-5mil budget. He thinks he will have a rough draft in about two weeks and then it is revising time. Mark Aro is freaking unbelievable so I am absolutely positive I will be able to create some BRILLIANT visuals and action scenes. :-)

Sounds good, mister. One last thing (I think): Who's your target audience?

Sounds good, Matt. I'll keep tabs on the thread for updates and all the good stuff. Hope you get to shoot your trailer! Maybe seeing this will inspire me to move through my writing process faster.

I love the Idea Matt... the poster Is sweet, and the film is in the genre I love. can't wait to see more from you.

Not setting a high bar for yourself are you, Matt? :Drogar-Shock(DBG):

Good luck on the project and I'm looking forward to see what you come up with...

I was uber excited after I saw what the FX artist could do. He can create the worlds I need and motion track everything as well as create the monsters. It opened up a lot of possibilities when I discovered that! :-)

Mark just showed me some quick renders of a fight scene on a moving bus. It was aweosme. We have figured out how to do it and will most likely have this shot and the trailer made along with one other and a feature within a year. The goal is to pitch it all, with us directing as the catch. We will see, but if it turns out the way it is looking like it will. This good be "it". It is exciting!

There was a feature last year, based on a novel called Stormbreaker. Could be a bit confusing.

So, are you guys moving forward with a trailer then? Is that what the martial arts call is for?
