Storing Filters?

How do you guys store your filters? I ask this because when I shoot outside on sunny days I find myself putting NDs on and taking them off somewhat frequently. In some situations I've lost some footage because I couldn't do this fast enough.

Right now I just store them in their plastic snap cases they came with. Decent I think but they take up a lot of room and it's not exactly fast.

Is this how you guys store/carry your filters too?

If I remember rightly, you can get a "wallet" style holder that the filters slide into. I have one of these for screw-on filters, but there's not enough room in the pockets for the square/rectangular filters.

Cheers,

I've been just keeping my screw-on filters in the cases they came with. I figured it gives them better protection, although a little more hassle. Do you find the wallet cases to allow more dirt to get on the filters? Any scratches from it?

Mike,

No, they seem to keep clean, although I always have a blower bulb with me to remove any dust. The wallet I have (Tamrac 5329 http://www.tamrac.com/g_accessories.htm) has soft plastic windows over a soft cloth back. It folds (rolls) up and closes with Velcro. I just got my Hitech NDs so they are still in their plastic sleeves and my Singh Ray ND grads come in their own nice plastic, plush-lined sleeves.

Another idea that might work for square filters is those CD cases like a book with the pages of pockets.

Cheers,
