stop comparing the canon to the hvx

Stop comparing the canon to the hvx. the canon is almost double the price and better have superior imaging.

and don't give me crap about well the hvx needs the p2 blah blah. the hvx doesn't need p2 just as the canon doesn't need the big 20k deck. attach the hvx to a laptop. stream away.

you get what you pay for.

compare the hvx to the jvc.

compare the hvx to 1995 Toyota xtra cab, it costs about 5k also. apples to apples people.

When comparing the HVX and H1, regardless of the extra cost of the H1, the HVX beats out the H1 in every dept. besides resolution.

I don't see the cost being a concern. In my opinion, if you're spending so much money, would a thousand or two more really hurt?

Since owning my HVX, I've made back more than half of what I payed for it within two weeks. It's a mini Varicam at a fraction of the cost.

I honestly couldn't be happier with the HVX and am extremely happy with the choice I made. Thank you Jan and Panasonic!

I don't know blonde, the reviews seems to suggest a clearer, more noise free image.
better glass.
(this isn't a troll)

i plan to get an hvx. #89 at evs.

Absolutely!

Oh, I'd appreciate it if you could forward to me the web site offering the free laptops with high capacity hard drives capable of continuously recording DVCPROHD data rates. Thanks.

Look, I'm hoping to go 50/50 on an HVX so I've got nothing against this fantastic camcorder. But come on..

Gee, if you don't make comparisons, how do you know which one to buy? By the way, you made a comparison, on price, which is a factor in the purchase decision.

I think that a lot of people come here to find out information so they can decide which camera to buy. I went with the HVX200 and it's a great investment. You better believe that I compared it to the Canon and the other HD cameras under $10,000.

They are very close in price (the Canon and the Panasonic). You don't add on to the cost of the Canon a pro deck, that's silly. Sure, it has SDI out, but if you can afford a pro deck to tether to the Canon, you can just buy a much better camera to begin with (something way beyond $10,000). Yes, you do have to buy P2 cards or a laptop or some storage device to record HD with the HVX200 (if you don't, I would love to know how you record HD with this camera -- you could save us all a ton of money!), so they are very similar in price. I also think that when people do compare these cameras (with the idea that they both cost the same amount of money), that they view images from the camera recorded onto P2 (or equivelant) for the Panasonic and HDV tape for the Canon.

I have spent a ton of money to get my HVX200 up and running. I purchased 2 8GB cards and in the future, I will have to purchase a HDDVD or Blu Ray device in order to distribute and back up my HD projects. Sure, there are cheaper ways to work, but if you think you can just buy an HVX200 for $6000 and you are all set to do HD, you're crazy!!!

I'm not sure why you wouldn't want to compare the HVX200 to all of the other under $10,000 cameras. Are you just so loyal to Panasonic that finding out what the other cameras can do means nothing? I don't get that. Sometimes I read posts written by people that don't even own the camera or haven't even tried multiple cameras out saying how incredible it is or making up excuses for any weaknesses. It's like they are trying to feel better about purchasing the camera. This is not a great way to pick a camera.

Go out and rent the cameras (if you can) and make a decision. Don't blame people who compare the Canon to the Panasonic. They are trying to research which is best for their needs. Perhaps just searching on the web is not the best way to make a decision. The best way is to try out each camera for yourself before you make a purchase.

The people I don't trust, are the ones who blindly support a camera no questions asked (IMHO) or those who think that the HVX200 is much cheaper than the Canon!

that's different because my comparison proved that comparisons are a bad idea with cameras so radically different in price.

why don't we just compare the hvx to a viper.

comparisons really only make sense when you're comparing products of comparable value.

also, some people are gloating over the canon's superiority. well let's compare the canon to a varicam . let's see whose gloating then.

why not also compare it to a genesis?

, so they are very similar in price.

the canon is 9000 dollars, the hvx at avs with a p2 is 5400. how can you say they're similar in price. that's like a 40 per cent difference.

if you think you can just buy an HVX200 for $6000 and you are all set to do HD, you're crazy!!!

you;re right. all i need is 5400 dollars.

I'm not sure why you wouldn't want to compare the HVX200 to all of the other under $10,000 cameras.

because you're making a comparison of cameras at different price points.

If I'm paying $9,000 for a camera it better damn well make toast too. How's that for an unreasonable comparison?:)

What are you delivering what on?

In other words, if you shooting DVCProHD 100, what are the gigs and how are you delivering the footage?

Just wondering

I'd like to see the Reels of each person that is having a Coronary Bypass over these 3 cameras. I can think of no less than 5 people on this site whose work warrants this kind of scrutiny and indecision.

HVX200 is an $9000 camera just like the Canon. You need at least 2 P2s and something to use for storing the P2 content. A $5400 HVX is a dv camera!

you don't know what you're missing. toasters are great for making toast.

Well, I have a toaster oven - but that's like the desktop computer of toasters
:)

Or is it like the laptop of ovens?
