Stolen HVX - Please keep an eye out!

I found a sticker on the outside of the original box with a barcode, the model (AG-HVX200E) and a number that begins C6TC and then has 5 digits followed by an 'R'. Is this the serial number?

That has to be it. The serial number on my DVX starts with D6TD, has 5 numbers after that, and ends with an R.

Well maybe your HVX will meet up with my stolen M2 adapter... I'll keep an eye out.

It's been over a year and I still ebay "Redrock m2" every once in awhile to see if anything blips on the radar.

I fell you r pain, man...
In April I had my car broken into and my JVC GY DV500 stolen. It was in a PortaBrace quickdraw, had $1500.00 usd worth of Tram Lav and Lectrosonics wireless gear, my cell phone, my wife's brand new Canon EOS digital Rebel and another Fuji digital still camera. It was a complete loss and all these months later I have yet to recover anything. Karma will have it's day.
Get insurance!.

Best of luck and We'll all keep an eye out for your cam...

I'm thinking of getting a full-size safe, the kind gun stores sell, for this reason. I take the HVX with me wherever I go (even if I don't need it, it goes in the trunk of the car) because it's the most valuable thing I own and I feel safer not leaving it home alone.

Check into the Gladiator Gearbox. Got one in my office. Great storage solution.

My heartfelt symphathy to my fellow Brit. I think thats a great idea about checking ebay. I'd take it further too and put a post on craigslist and other sites in your area looking for a HVX to buy. Don't lead on that you are looking for a stolen one.. and if you find one that fits the bill.. then I'd bring a big stick with you and do some headbanging..

I think all of us here feel for you and know that we all share this anxiety. When I got my HVX I took it everywhere with me and had fear leaving it at the house and it's something that's hard to replace financially so all of us feel something towards you. If you don't find your camera, then I'm sure people here would help to contribute to a fund for you. I know I'd send a couple of bucks through paypal to help out as I know that even the smallest sentiments mean a lot..

I also know that when I got all of my powertools stolen I didn't care as much about getting them back as I did about using my kungfu and kicking some ass. I just wanted to catch the assholes..

good luck and wish you the best.

You can set up your Ebay so it will look for an item you want. It sends you email notices like every other day. That way you don't have to remember to run a search.

Thanks again everyone for the support. I am still searching eBay as often as I can, and I'll take cbln's advice and set up an automatic search. I did find an item turning up on the eBay UK search called 'HVX200 Camera' this morning, but the listing has been removed, and I can't find any more details except that it is being sold by a 'company' type seller and is 175 miles away (London?). It was listed at £109 - so seemed a bit dodgy to me...

Fortunately I do have insurance, and the HVX was named as a specific item on it (although the 2 16Gb P2 cards and the Peli case weren't) so I'll have to hope the loss adjusters don't find any loopholes that they can use to avoid paying out. I lost a Vaio laptop at the same time too, which I think should also be covered.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and voices of sympathy,

Tom

Well, no sign of the HVX. However, my insurance company has paid up, and I'll be filming again soon. I have - maybe controversially - decided to put my money into an EX1 instead of replacing it. This means that the shiny new P2 store that I bought about 6 months ago, but have only used once or twice, is now sitting in the corner of my room looking sorry for itself. I'll be selling it in the marketplace forums.

What an unhappy end to my HVX experience! Still, you live and learn... I will post any thoughts - both positive and negative - on my experience with the EX1 when it arrives.

Cheers

Tom
