Stolen Equipment by a fellow filmer... Is it worth calling the cops? (orlando beware)

@DeepFocus88. Haha, good one.

But really this thread reminds me a bit of politics. Too much talk, not enough action. Smack the guy and get it over with if you have to, but get it dealt with and move on.

As for phoning the cops, if a crime has been committed, inform them. If not, a tough break I guess. But, what goes around comes around so...he'll get his day I'm sure, sooner or later.

//edit: In better words maybe, that kind of lifestyle cannot be sustained. At some point the **** goes down. That much I do know.

Why is he called a "fellow filmer" he knows equipment, so what?

Everyone I've met in the film or television industry has been really nice, loves what that do. They love what they do, and take pride in it, and probably wouldn't want to screw that up by stealing some stupid piece of gear. Really, how many people laugh when they're shown up by a 17 year old? (yes, it's happened....on multiple occasions)

and I agree, he looks like meth head, just no meth mouth.

I think the original poster wrote 'fellow filmer' in the title before he knew who it was. I'm sure he would phrase it differently in retrospect.

In my experience, teenagers are the ones to watch out for. They are too young to think things through and act rashly. Watch yourself if you
are facing off against a teen especially if they are in a group.

As far as being overlooked by the law, that can work two ways. Breaking an arm and leaving someone something to remember you by
can be arranged at places with no witnesses.

It's true; when dealing with a teen you are dealing with an indestructible, immortal, omniscient being to whom neither the laws of man nor nature apply.

Aim for the head.

Or the groin.

I wonder if he read Dove Simmon's (or whatever his name is) book about stealing to make your movie. Anyway, loaning something with no agreement is a civil matter not a criminal matter, something everyone should be aware of.

You guys should forward this to Dove so he knows when you steal to make your movie it hurts other people.

I read Dov's book and watched his DVDs.

Don't recall him advocating or encouraging theft.
