Stolen Equipment by a fellow filmer... Is it worth calling the cops? (orlando beware)

so wild story. I let this dude that ive done some stuff with rent my letus adapater from me for a day. well he was suppose to drop it off at 6pm today. well he never calls me so i finally get ahold of him and he said that he had a PA drop it off. Well no PA ever came by my house. He then said the PA dropped it off to some guy in front of my house. Well the thing is there are 2 security gates to into my apartment complex and he couldnt even get through without calling me...

Well long story short. I have no letus now and he says he doesnt have it. Ive argued with him and he is trying to say that I have it. Well I dont... I was at home today editing from 1pm till 12am now. My wife is also here and been here the entire and she can vouch that no one ever came by the house.

Is it worth going to the cops? I have all the emails, text messages from the guy. My GF also witnessed me giving him the adapter monday. I have his name and cell phone but thats all.

Ive tried everything with the guy. I told him I just want the adapter whatever. Just get me the adapter. Well he now says that he has no reason to steal it and i need to stop bugging him about it. So basically hes denying everything.

What do i do? The letus is worth 1,000 bucks or so. I let him borrow the letus adapter, rails and 50mm prime...

Same thing you told us. Just be aware it's your word against his. But show them all the stuff on the web about the guy. They'll tell you what to do from there.
