stolen cam alert!!!

My XL2 was stolen today. its a very sad night here in Southern California.

Sorry to hear that.

Let us know the serial numbers if you have them, and description of what was stolen apart from the camera (bag, matte box, lenses etc). It may turn up for sale somewhere (keep your eye on Ebay). Slight chance you'll catch the gits redhanded!

I've heard of a few people recovering their own stolen merchandise while surfing eBay. Put the word out in as many forums as possible-there are plenty of us who've lost gear and wouldn't mind nailing a thief if we knew what to look out for.

In the ninieties, most professional cameras that disappeared ended up in Mexico making porn flicks. I saw a too-good-to-be-true deal on a varicam out of Mexico on ebay a few months ago. Sounded very similar to one stolen from England.

It was in a black 1620 pelican case. tripod has manfrotto 525mvb legs and the manfrotto 503 head. serial # for the XL2 is 332040600436. Along with that 2 extra BP-945 batteries were in there and 5 Panasonic master tapes with footage one them. So if you guys could keep your eyes out I'd appreciate it very much. Thanks a lot everybody.

Costa Mesa is where I am at! Those F$$@#@% for doing that to you. Sorry to hear this. If were lucky these kind of idiots in the world will step to far into the path of a bus!

I will pass the word around town!

From who? I'd like some info on this.

How about a little bit of the story on how it got stolen. Never hurts to share those stories even if you did something you shouldn't have (like leave it unattended), but it only serves to help remind us all to learn from what happened to you. You never know, it might save one of us from having the same thing happen?

i was attending my last class for the day at OCC which didnt require me to bring my camera. so i put it in the back of my suv ina pelican case which was black. i covered it up with some random clothes so it wouldnt be seen. i come back from class a 8pm and drive to my buddies and when trying to get out of my car the door handle on the inside wouldnt work. i didnt think anything of it since my car is falling apart anyways. it was later when i got home at 11 when i went to grab my camera that i noticed it wasnt there. so i filed the police report and all that business. i am very dissaponted in myself for leaving it like that. i will never leave anything in my car no matter how safe i feel it is.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I live like right next to OCC and I am taking a ROP video production class at Costa Mesa High. I'm at the high school 3 or 4 times a week and if it ends up there i'll be sure to alert the police. I hope you get it back.

WHAT IS THIS INSURANCE FOR FOR $40 BUCKS?

yea man call your insurance company, There is this insurance that you can get to cover things like LAptops, Video cameras, Etc, and its FULL coverage, Fire, theft, accidents Etc., and it only costs like 40 or 50 $. I am not sure what its called. The insurance company would know better. Search the forms on dvxuserV3, there was a couple threads about it there.

Yup, that sucks. It always seems to be one of two things: left in car or left unattended in the field. Bummer. You might want to check on your car insurance. If you have full coverage, they might cover things stolen from the car. Mine does, but has a deductible and a cap.

yes my home insurance is covering the 6 grand but then charging me 1 grand for the deductable. which cuts what equipment i can replace down to the camera and replacement batteries. so im a little screwed with this one. but i think my friend has a tripod similar to the one i had that he will lend me for a while.
