Stock Availability in Australia

Bump, still no luck finding one in Australia may have to take my HPX172. Will need to find backpack to suit, my pelican case is a little bulky for packpacking

Bump. Still no luck finding a PAL version of the GH2 have tried every store that I can find that lists it in Australia, Hong Kong ,Singapore and New Zealand.
Apprarently the factory in Japan was inundated by the tsumami and still has no power, I think my probs finding this does pale into insignificance with the troubles in Japan.

i too have been hunting one of these - they are practically invisible here in oz - its very frustrating - i have them on order at b and h - nothing there for months either

It would be so much easier if the GH2 was both 50i and 60I (it isn't is it) then you could order from the states

Yeah Pal 50i, NTSC 60i.

Presumably it's about saving a small amount of $$ on regional settings... which in the new era of unparalleled global trade via the internet is just so debilitating and frustrating to our particular market segment. The VDSLR crowd would happily pay a little more to be more functional, but it seems they have tried to keep the price point a little lower for the cross over still camera market that they are pitching too.

But the 1K price point is probably too high for the bulk of that market in any case - or if your spending $1k but high quality still focus is the first priority, most will, and clearly are, looking to go canon or Nikons for better quality and larger range of fully functional glass instead. There going about this all the wrong way in my humble opinion. With EVERYTHING gradually turning modular, repeat sales of people investing in your lenses, system - creating customer loyalty/familiarity etc are surely where it's at...?

I've always rented in the past, but for the first time I'm buying gear to shoot a low budget feature, initially after Bloom and Laforet mania I was going Canon,
but after research I'd become extremely close to going the GH2 route.

NOTE TO PANNY: But with the limitations I'm not sure I'll be buying a GH2 and spending a few additional thousand on micro four thirds glass etc and thereby investing in that system, and it's only living in hope that Vitaliy will make an announcement soon to fix/make it a clear choice that has me still not completely decided on going Canon.

How ridiculous it seems to me, that it's a guy not even in the employ of Panasonic will be ultimately responsible whether I, a film maker all the way over in Australia will be investing in a Panasonic kit or not??

Just been informed, that it will be at least June/July before deliveries in Australia. Now looking in the UK, will put up with the 30min record time just need it for the trip.
The HPX172 I have is perfect for the job but I will be on the road for 3 months and it is just too big for carrying around, I like the small form factor of the GH2 everything will fit in a my Kata backpack. It will be used to produce my fishing DVD's and take the happy tourist snaps as well.

Just ordered one through Amazon.com UK and am having it deliverd to OZ via a mate in England, having said that I will not know if it actually exists, until he gets it in two days. Can you email details to ozfish@primusonline.com.au in case it falls through

Just received an email from Amazon to say my GH2 has been dispatched to my mate in the UK, feels like xmas. Amazon will not send direct to Oz I did find another company after I ordered from Amazon who would send, not sure if the reason is territory infringement, but if anyone is interested they can PM me and I will give the address.(don't want to get the company in trouble). I would have prefered to use local suppliers but with the recent disasters in Japan they are just not available in Australia.

I finally have my GH2 in my hot little hands, nearly 3 months to get one. Looking forward to getting some good footage and learning the work flow.
My Rode Video Mic Pro should arrive tomorrow, a little disappointed that my Hoodman does not fit that well, had to drill out the adjustment rod to get the height right but it still lets light in at the bottom, have my Zoom H4N will be interesting learning how to sync in post.
Let the good times roll!
