Stills in Video Mode on 60d- are settings retained?

Hi all,

on the brink of buying a 60D (probably!), could someone confirm that I can grab a still in video mode on the 60D and exposure/shutter settings etc would remain as per the video?- I have done this on the 7D with 'blinkies' on for exposure reassurance.

Much appreciated,

Yes it retains all the settings :) I actually hadly ever switch to one of the photo-modes when I want to make a picture.

Only drawback is that your picture will have 16:9 aspect ratio while on the 550D this wasn't the case. The new 600D works the same as the 60D in this respect: the picture will be 16:9.

As a side note here, while it does use the same picture style and 16:9, it is tough to get a read of what your final image will be if you are shooting with a flat picture style like the Technicolor or Marvel Cine. I've found those pics are hard to read and even if you work them in photoshop they are tough to bring back the same as video.

If you are shooting for your "look" in camera then it works great!

Cheers,
Pete
