File is pretty large. Am looking for a place to host. Will hopefully post in a few days. Any comments on the stills?

yes i would like to see some footage as well, the sooner the better.

but those stills look pretty good. what nikon lens did you use? i'm thinking of going that route; hvx+brevis+nikon. do you have any more shots that take more advantage of the depth of field?

I think the stills look very nice. I get tired of the OVER DONE glaring/jarring 35mm dof stuff.

Your shots look more natural and very pleasing.

Look forward to some footage

Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it. I'll try to post some footage soon.

Thanks for the backfocus comment TimurCivan. Focus is still something I need to address. I don't have a monitor yet, so these were all done with the HVX LCD. I'm actually really pleased that they were even close to sharp.

All these shots were done with a 200mm nikon manual focus lens I bought off ebay for less than $35. And, most of that $35 was shipping. I got really lucky with that one. It's about 40 years old and looks like it's been dropped many many times. Luckily, the glass is still clean and it seems to work just fine. Here's a pic of the setup. By the way, to give you an idea of how long that is, those are 24" rails.

Stills look great! I would love to see some footage too.

I also have the same equipment you have and I'm would love to compare your footage with mine (I seem to get a little of the grain screen effect even with fast lenses with the CF1L).

Thanks for restoring my faith in the Brevis (I'm used to the M2 where there is virtually no grain patern to be seen).

Octobersky84,

Here's a link to another test I did.

There are a few shots with really shallow depth of field. I'd love to hear what you think.

Thanks Todd. I'm pretty new to all this, so I'm still learning. I found that if you stop down more than 2 or 3 stops, you start to see the grain you're talking about. I usually try to shoot 1 or 2 stops from wide open. Although, in this case, I was shooting wide open at F4. I didn't have enough light to stop down more. I only had a 1K softbox as my light source and it was literally a foot from these objects. I set my HVX at F4. I also had to open up my Brevis to turn up the vibration a little when I first got it.

Hope this helps.

J
