That was the famous stock lens, i wouldn't dare use the other fast FD or Nikkon lenses as they are very difficult to use in such concerts for beginners.

I wouldn't agree w/ that statement. Much to my horror I am grabbing my Nikon 24 F2.8 much more than my beloved pancake 20mm 1.7.
Reason?

The 24 f2.8 has the focus maxed out from 2 meters onwards. Just set the lens to a hair less than infinity (to compensate for the effect of the adaptor) and you're ready to rock. No need to fiddle around with focus (provided your distance to the filmed subject is > 2.0 metres) - just conentrate on framing your shots.

My 2 swiss franc cents' worth, YMMV...
