StickyPod new Advertiser/Contest. Win a Stickypod

No worries; didnt know if it was an oversite. I think feeding off others is a great way to stir competition and creative juices.

Hey stickypod or any sticky pod users,
This is an excellent product from what I can tell, and my purchasing decision is hinged upon the actual weight of the unit.
If someone could please provide exact weight of the My Sticky Pod and Original Sticky Pod I'd be much obliged. Cheers.

It's a FREE site. Render it out at something else will ya?

I don't think anyone using this is at liberty to make demands?

Of course they can do what they want -- it's their site! However may I be allowed to point out a fallacy in assuming the AVI's are uncompressed?

AVIs are just wrappers which use almost any codec. They can be read on both PC's and Macs. With the use of the proper codec, they stream great, aren't bothered by the occasional download corruption (the reason I and many others don't use Quicktime) and have the best and most configurable compressors. It's the closest thing there is to an open-source video file format.

It's mighty peculiar to prevent a very popular and convenient file format for no good reason. Smacks of mac-user ignorance more than anything else, and leaves a bad taste in the mouths of PC users -- especially since mpeg-4 AVI's are used for almost everything these days.

Great offer, make it better!

(I don't mean to seem sour over this, just disappointed that I've got a bunch of files to share, and have been looking for a place to host them because my poor server is swamped -- this seemed sooooo cool until I tried it! Denied! I applaud the effort though. Add avi support and I'll buy a round the next we meet. !)

Okay, that's off my chest -- back the the discussion. :)

Which is half the problem.

Half the time I don't have the codec, the player won't automatically download it, and there's no indication of which codec was actually used so I can't even go out and search for one myself.

At that point, I decide it's not worth the effort, and move on to something else.

Here's the weights for the different models:

ProPak - 3 lbs 8 ozs
My Sticky Pod - 1 lb 7 ozs
Original - 2lbs 6 ozs

Will be just a little lighter by a couple ounces. These figures include packaging for shipping.

Response to emails

I have been responding to several questions regarding the contest, here they are:

Do you have an EPS file for your company logo?
No, it was lost in a bad hard drive accident. Uploaded a large JPG instead. You can find it on the DVXUser Upload page.

Can you accept an AVI file?
No, we need a format that is more user friendly. Please render in MPEG1 or MPEG2.

Can we use your company logo or can we create something else?
Please be creative. A new company logo is definitely something worth looking at. We encourage you to be as creative as you like.

That's all for now.

MANY thanks for the info!
Due to weight limitation on an upcoming project, the MY STICKY POD looks like a winner!!

Please keep in mind that a My Sticky Pod is designed for lightweight cameras only. It will not handle a DVX100. The Original will have no problem handling a DVX100. Other factors to consider is how rough the ride will be. The rougher the ride the bigger the base needs to be. An Original will handle a rough ride much better than a My Sticky Pod.

Okay, thanks for the added info. I will have to weigh what I have now, and make the final decision based upon how much weight I still have left. ...or that I NEED the Sticky POD normal so much, that I need to throw something else out! ;-)

Just a quick update:
My Sticky Pod (that's the small one with three suction cups) received yesterday.
Great piece of equipment to use with my chintzy Sony cam (I haven't the room or weight capacity I'd like for this current project, otherwise I'd have ordered the full size stickypod).

Also, gotta love that video-manual! It's got to be the cheapest/cheezy produced, yet MOST EFFECTIVE instructional video I've ever seen! Kudos for that one, and for a great product!

very nice

very nice

I will try to make a banner for you guys ASAP. I would love one of those for any chase scenes or what not. Thanks for letting us know here stickpod! I must say ever since I joined this site, I have ran into so much good information on cams techniques and even DIY haha I love DVXuser.com .

Sticky Pod Shipping Refunds

Sticky Pod Shipping Refunds

I have refunded several shipping charges, but I'm not sure if I got them all. If you ordered a Sticky Pod and I did not refund your shipping, please drop me a line :)

Many thanks for the business and keep those orders coming!

Stickypod, contest question for you:

I know the dvxuser part of your website has a max file size upload of 50MB -- is that the file size limit for the 468x60 banner contest?

I don't need more size. I was just wondering if you need a smaller max so you could actually use this for advertising -- most sites have banner file size specs.

Please advise.

The 468X60 is the banner size we're looking for, but I know it will have to be smaller than 50MBs. We can work out the size details later. The banner will likely be an animated gif file. Even these files are not very big. The 50MB limit allows everyone a chance to post their vids and pics.

Contest ending soon!

Contest ending soon!

Our banner contest is ending soon and we only have 2 entrants. Please email or submit your banner via our upload page. We should have at least 5 entrants to make this work out.

Many thanks for all the purchases and the creativity!

I just uploaded mine...

I just want to make sure you know which banners are which. When I uploaded the banner, a new window popped up (separate from the contest sign up form.) I am concerned because my name/dvxuser name is not in the banner's file name itself.

Thank you for the opportunity. What a great promotion you came up with.

Entered mine too, but at what looks like 1 1/2 hours past the cut off (1:30am on the 25th). Didn't know banners had to be submitted until I was done & looking at the rules page (Jarred posted this thread in the Sci-Fi Fest Banners thread yesterday).

Hopefully it's in on time, and thanks for the opportunity for us to submit some banner ideas!
