We would like to welcome Sticky Pod camera mounts as our new sponsor. As many of you know, they sell the most durable camera mounts for capturing video from outside any vehicle. They work great with the DVX100 and will stay in place for many hours so you can get that perfect shot. Hailed by Automobile Magazine and independently tested by Tom’s Hardware Guide (and several others), the Sticky Pod has been put through its paces and comes out on top. We are excited to have them on board!

They decided to advertise with us because many of you have been looking at their website for more than a year! To help you get to know them and to introduce you to their product, they are holding a contest. They need a killer advertising banner, created by you, that grabs the viewers’ attention and takes them to their site. It will be open to DVXUser members only. The winner will be announced on November 1st and gets a Sticky Pod ProPak valued at $129! All contest information can be found at: www.stickypod.com/dvxuser.htm

Thank you DVXUsers

Thank you DVXUsers

What a great introduction! We are thrilled to be on board and we are going to do more than just try and sell our Sticky Pod products. We are going to get involved with this community. For starters, we have the contest that Jarred mentioned above. We are also going to supply DVXUser members only with an outlet for their videos and pics. We have created a subdomain on our site called "dvxuser", when you go to http://dvxuser.stickypod.com/dvxuser_upload.php you will see that we have created a place for you to upload your videos and pics  We have an enormous amount of web space and bandwidth for vides and pics, so please take advantage of this offer. Once they are uploaded, you can copy the shortcut and point people to your work. No charge! Just use it :)

We look forward to seeing your work and becoming involved with the community. For all of you that have visited our site over the last 2 years, we send our special thanks for helping spread the word about Sticky Pods.

If you have any questions or have any problems with the uploads, please let us know. We are here for you.

great promotion!

Question for you, is there a discount program available for DVXUsers in purchasing your products such as the one that EVS provides?

I'm glad you brought that up. We will be offering free standard shipping to all DVX User members. Since our shopping carts cannot keep track of how you were referred to us, just drop us a note in the shopping carts message box. We will refund your standard shipping after it is mailed out. We use U.S. Priority Mail and they deliver our packages nationwide in 3 days or less. Premium services, such as overnight, would still need to be paid.

Many thanks for asking and we hope to see you soon...literally.

COOL!

Hey stickypod person, could you please provide exact weight of the ORIGINAL STICKY POD and MY STICKY POD?
Many thanks.

Which sticky pod is ideal for holding a dvx? I've got a short coming up soon where I'll need a car mount and have been looking at sticky pods for a while.

The ideal Sticky Pod for larger cameras is the Original or the ProPak (use the same base), the ProPak has many more accessories. A My Sticky Pod is designed for small lightweight consumer cameras, 2 pounds or less.

The AVI files are just too large and will soak up all our storage. Not fair for others. Can you render it into an animated GIF? If not, and the file is less than 50MBs, then just email it to sales@stickypod.com. Our email box can handle that.

Just FYI, we have a drag racing video that we're uploading today. It shows the 174MPH run with a Sticky Pod on the outside of the car

Many thanks for the compliments and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Huh? AVI isn't a codec, it's a simple codec wrapper. It has nothing to do with file size.

The video I want to upload is 2 minutes long at 15 megs in size using high-quality DIVX (mpeg-4).

AVI are compressed, and are smaller with higher quality than any of the formats you're offering (with the exception of .mov, which doesn't work on many PCs including mine.)

All of the good codecs on the PC (H.264, xvid, divx) need AVI. AVI can also stream, and isn't affected as seriously by download corruption like Quicktime.

Quicktime users can also play many AVI files, assuming use of a compatible codec.

Please allow the use of AVI, and simply cap the upload size if that's a concern.

It's a FREE site. Render it out at something else will ya?

I don't think anyone using this is at liberty to make demands?

I'm always up for trying new things, but this is about accessibility for all. The file formats we use are the most common available. Since we're trying to sell a product, we're trying to make sure everyone has a chance to see it in action. You do want everyone to see your work don't you?

I'll take you up on that beer anytime. Fat Tire from the New Belgium brewing company here in Fort Collins, Colorado is one of my favorites.

Holy crap that was GREAT! So, that's what it's like going that fast and looking back huh? lol

Which pod was used for that run?

That's the Original Sticky Pod or the ProPak. The bases are the same for both. The camera was mounted directly to the base. I should have used an extension, I probably would not have generated so much wind build up. That would have minimized some of the vibrations.

Hi stickypod

I submitted a lil banner (called stick this). Is it normal for submitted BANNERs to be made viewable by everyone?

yes everyone can see it when you upload. we wanted to keep it simple so there's no registration or login. hope that doesn't hinder you. could give others, and yourself, some good ideas.
