Steve Jobs says next FCS will be awesome

Why or why would Jobs communicate several times with this web site?

I'm not saying it isn't correct, but this web site has in the past received e mail messages from Jobs. The first was about the layoffs of the FCS team a month ago.

Just seems a little odd.

On the other hand, a stable 64-bit Cocoa FCS3 would be great.

"We bought yet another company who's product we're going to make available only for our platform (Mac OS), and throw it into the bundle of other acquired applications called Final Cut Studio 4, to keep up with Adobe's CS5 and CS6 release schedule, since we're no longer friends over this iPad not running flash thing, and a lot more people are switching to Premiere, After Effects and On-Location and the Software-only Davinci Resolve workflows from our Studio 3 product."

Now that is awesome! Nice post!

Personally I am using Final Cut 6 and think it's amazing, I have no idea why anyone would talk bad about it?

You're right, all were asking for is bluray support, 64 bit app, stable Quick Time. Now I can see you being happy editing SD and finishing to DVD. But some of us choose to progress in our lives.

Patience? Bluray has been been out for years. Nero has been burning bluray since it was released. Patience?

I agree with you on that one. Luckily, there are solutions (Encore). Then again, I don't have a single client who's even requested it yet... I doubt we'll ever even see a Final Cut Studio solution...

And still, patience. Every time a competitor updates their product line, people start panicking like it's the end of the world for FCP. Oh no Apple is giving up! Oh no I don't have feature x or y! You can't keep playing that game.

Apple will never do this. Blue Ray support that is.

3. Apple had vested interest in HD-DVD/Toshiba (which did fail and burned into a pile of ash.)

What an Apple fanboy! :D

That was quite a battle between the HD-DVD camps and Blu-Ray. However, to be fair, you should point out that Apple was not only an active member of the DVD Forum which developed the HD DVD standard, but also joined the Board of Directors of the Blu-ray Disc Association in March of 2005.

I use FC6 too. it IS awesome, for 2007. There is a lot of fear in the community of being left behind. Most of us have $$$ tied up in plug-ins and Macs. But those macs have good resale value, and the idea of jumping ship to adobe is now a real consideration. Even for diehard apple fans like me. I brag about not using a PC since I started editing 6 yrs ago.

Imagine if FX-Plug supported CS5 for all existing customers. the borg would loose half of their crop.

Apple never had vested interest in HD-DVD/Toshiba (which did fail and burned into a pile of ash.) As pointed out, it was a member of the blu ray consortium to start.

There are Mac solutions for blu ray authoring both in and out of FCS3, albeit it is limited.

I've doing desktop DVD creation on a Mac for about nine years now.

I don't see a clamor for blu ray on a Mac, but that is just my view.

I do see a clamor for streaming delivery with low bandwidth effective codecs, and it seems that that is where the marketplace is moving.
