Step-by-step instructions for the new GH1 Ptool hack: "GH17 Lenin" (2011 cameras)

Just applied this hack to a new body, hack uploaded fine all directions followed, but the first time i tried to record it said cannot make any more selections. powered down then up again then it said cannot record due to ntsc data on the card so i formatted the card, then it worked. checked the file on mediainfo it said max bitrate 108, avg bitrate something like 19 which made sense coz the scene was dim. It looked great. used max-lat 100 lpowell patch.

still the cam is an ntsc model. wanted to switch to pal, realized i had no idea how. I switched every thing in the menu to pal when i could (two items in the menu i think) and it said 25.000fps in mediainfo, but under Standard it said ntsc? is this normal? does it affect anything?

so far all else looks great. all playable in cam ... stunning results.
 
13. Press the play button on the camera and hold it for 5 seconds/or until a message appears. When it prompts you whether you want to up the firmware version, use the cursor button to select “YES“ then press set button to confirm.

You don't have to hold it for 5 seconds. You just need to press it and it takes a little while to pop up.
 
just to confirm - so if I want to reinstall the original version - I simply put the 1.32 file in the root of the SD card and do version update. Right?

Yes.

Even if your camera came with version 1.34, 1.32 will still have the same functionality/menus, etc.
 
please add in the sd card requirements that special attention needs to be made to the sd card : in my case a lexar class10 did not work but a sandisk class 6 worked fine.

Changed to:
15. Put a different card in the GH1 that you will be using to shoot the video to, then turn camera on.
Class 6 SDHC/preferably Class 10 SDHC.
Sandisk Extreme Class 10 strongly recommended for use with the GH1 hack.
Sandisk Extreme Class 6 suitable for most hacks - but go with SanDisk Class 10 if possible; most suitable for the higher bit rate hacks, i.e. 100mbps max.

Other brands like "Lexar/Class 10" or other Class 10/Class 6 cards may not be usable for the higher bit rates.

Have had my new gh1 since the pany sale last year but just got around to hacking her. It went flawlessly with the help of this thread , and obviously tester 13 . I installed powell's reliable in-camera playback patch v2 . So far so good . Haven't tried all modes , just 720p mpeg but it's shooting w/o failures on a transcend class 10 16g card. I'll shoot some more and download it tonight and have a look. thanks - kurth
....o yea and thanks to powell as well !
